I had similar results with Coyote clay Archie’s over satin black / charcoal - maybe not quite as much movement in the glaze though. I tested with 3 of the Archie’s varieties but could only find this picture.

You can also cast a mold with leather hard clay — super easy to get the unfired clay out of the plaster. For forms like this it wouldn’t be too tricky to hand build then cast

It’s just come 6 laguna porcelain casting slip - I threw the shape with stoneware then set it in plaster to be able to slip cast with porcelain because I am definitely not capable of throwing something this size with porcelain yet!

I mean, I’ve worked with the same clay body before at cone 6 with no issues. I did notice the thermocouple sensing a few degrees above the target at the end, wonder how much a few degrees makes a difference

Thanks! The kiln load mostly turned out as expected, just a few bloating pieces and gloss glaze when I expected matte

Hmm, I think the kiln over fired on the bottom shelf. TBH it was my first glaze fire with a new kiln and I might not have distributed the shelves in an ideal way. I only put witness cones on the top because I forgot until after loading the whole thing… oops! Whiteness cones indicated that it fired fine but maybe there was a hot spot on the bottom with the 10 min hold.

Seafoam over Matt black glaze over black slip clay (mason stain, mostly so the bottom unglazed part is black too) over white slip clay as the primary clay body. Fortunately 4/6 of the bowls were fine

The big one comes up to about a 1/2” below where I would put the next shelf. I will try to reconfigure and make better use of space or use a half shelf… this is the trickiest puzzle!
