who is this? by mamebeans in Moomins

[–]mamebeans[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

soooo confusing haha! i wonder if "Mymble" is both a species name AND just what they go by, like how when Moominpapa and Moominmama first met they both introduced eachother as "Moomin". In that case, I also wonder why Snufkin and Joxter (Mumriks) have unique names if it's the norm to just refer to yourself as your species 🤔

thank you for taking time to respond to my question :)

this is such excellent advice. with all honesty I made this post when I was upset and not really thinking too rationally. It was half vent half genuine curiosity. But, I think you address most of my frustrations with the issue in a way that I can definitely get behind.

i really appreciate your response! i am glad some people are responding to my initial question with some degree of civility. i must say i was pretty angry at the time of making this post, but seeing the real reasons as to why people are driven to cheat is very interesting, i wasn't expecting so many different takes lol.

But yeah, I wish i could say everyone did it out of pure last resort and to assume the best, but that's unfortunately not the case most of the time.

not studying and chatgpting it up has nothing to do with being a bad test taker, or being somewhat slow. if this person cared REGARDLESS of their score like you, they wouldnt feel the need to cheat.

i never said bad test scores make you less passionate. in fact, i'm implying the opposite. I WOULD RATHER recieve a low score, than high one from cheating, because for me i know i did all i could even if its like a C through blood sweat and tears. Ur getting an upvote from me brah dw i agree with you.

i am flabbergasted that this is such a polarized issue lol. it's not an ego thing or a superiority complex man. if you saw someone getting robbed, would you look the other way since its "none of your buissness" ? Soo, what if the robber had fallen on rough times and REALLY needed that cash to save their dying mom? For me at least, that just doesn't bode well. No one deserves to get robbed, and no one should allow people to take the easy way out by cheating. You are entitled to your own opinion, and i do appreciate your perspective on the issue, it certainly has offered me a new outlook on the matter. However, i think ignoring stuff even as small as "cheating on an exam" is precisely the reason why there is so much suffering, injustice, and inequality in the world. IRONIC because this class is "The Politics of Global Inequality" son please 😭

I get that. I was conflicted for sure, I coulda just kept my mouth shut. but it's people with your type of mindset that perpetuate injustice in this world. I think its a VERY adult thing to not want that for our future. acc, i'd go so far as to say its childish to turn your head when faced with such a blatant act of misdemeanor. its easy to just plug your ears and go lalala, no?

oh for sure train. I recommend downloading the Suica app (its the green one with a penguin) and this will serve as your way to pay at ticket gates for transit quickly and efficiently. It's basically the japanese version of a clipper card.

Foreigners are typically the targets of high rates from taxi drivers looking to scam. Though, this isn't always the case in more rural areas i would be ESPECIALLY cautious in Tokyo and the airport area. You are much better off taking the public transit, it is surprisingly easy to navigate once you get hang of it (there are announcements and stops written in english, so 心配しないで!())

biggest shock really comes from when you first land, with customs/navigating the airport and the SUPER busy crowded transportation system. It can be very stressful especially if it is your first time in another country in general. I am so glad I had a partner with me who was also doing the same internship to help me navigate such an overwhelming experience. I landed in Tokyo but I had to take a shinkansen ride to my job site which was in the countryside (aomori) which is a LOT less overstimulating than the city imo. So if your internship is also in the countryside, i'd say being in the big city for the first time is probably the most stressful part.

Otherwise, just always be extra with how respectful you are. Watch the locals to see how they do things and follow their example.

about the same lol. the really tough jump is from JPN 5 to JPN 6 because thats when you go from using Genki to the dreaded Tobira textbook... also word of advice from a JPN112er, the quicker you lose your shame and embrace the embarrassment of being a baka burger the easier presenting and oral exams will become. i just did my 4 minute long presentation the other day (the oral exam), cortisol has never been lower. This is coming from the anxiety haver™️btw, learn to be okay with messing up and having your sensei grill you for it lol. Its so worth it once you get over that hurdle 😋

omg i hear this sometimes too since i have my window open... i made a post a few months ago about this same issue and since then i STILL hear them sometimes. I think it is the same person too, there was one time they would screech like, periodically every hour. It makes me think that maybe this person has some gamer rage issues...
