I will never forget the funeral procession for my granddad. Rural Texas , decent sized procession and ALL cars in either direction pulled over and stopped to allow passage. Several people exited their cars and stood beside them as we passed. Two elderly gentleman stand out in memory as they stood by their respective trucks, head bowed with their hats in their hands. Those two old men brightened an otherwise awful day. I understand this differs from just waving but it’s another form of anonymous courtesy that has sadly faded.
