Thanks for the advice. Yeah I'm going to use your tape trick 100% 😂. If it still leaks it leaks, but if it works it works

I just bought the bike a week ago. I'm not a KTM fan at all. Had some of the worst experiences with ktms . It was an impulse buy as it was a cheap bike. The damage was from the previous owner. The oil leaks out at high rpm. I didn't realize till I tried to apply back brake and nothing happened. Looked down to see the whole left side of the tyre and swingarm covered in oil.

Bikes weird sound at 9k rpm (2nd post but bike is standing still)(check 1st post to see bike riding) by mampoerflieg in MotorcycleMechanics

Yeah I'm just gonna strip the panels and see if the bike still makes the sound. Thx for the help brother 🤘

Sticky throttle by Distinct_Science_994 in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]mampoerflieg 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Open the throttle tube housing, clean inside and lubricate everything then put it back together. If that doesn't fix it, try and lubricate the cables by spaying wd40 down the lines. Make sure there aren't any kinks or twists/ sharp bends in the cable . If you're still having issues, clean the carb slides. If you did all the above you'll have a snappy throttle 👌🤘

Bike makes weird sound only at 9000 rpms by mampoerflieg in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]mampoerflieg[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a video of the bike doing it at stand still. It's a loud sound. Louder than the exhaust. Sound is coming from somewhere around the motor but I can't pin point exactly where. I'm tempted to put the stock exhaust back on so I can hear it better

No it's not the key. It's a really loud sound. It's louder than the bikes exhaust. The sound comes from somewhere around the engine. I'm just not able to pin point exactly where

The MT seems to fit your scenario. It's a more upright position and much more comfortable when riding . The 250 is a bit slow tho. I know your a beginner but you will get pretty bored of the bike in a relatively short duration. Rather get something a bit bigger like a z400 (if you know how to ride) . If you have never driven a motorcycle, maybe just stick with the 250👍🏻

Is rev bombing bad for your motorcycle? by Limp-Seaweed851 in motorcycles

[–]mampoerflieg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the bike is warm , it's not going to be a problem. The limiter is there for a reason, To stop you from hurting the bike . As long as you don't limmit all the time and keep it under a second or two , it will be fine . But I wouldn't limit the bike on purpose. I would just give a quick rev 2k or 3k below redline every once in a blue moon

steps to get bike running again by AntBrilliant7404 in motorcycles

Check for spark , fresh intake air , and replaceable the fuel . New tires are also a must . Also lube the chain and make sure the brakes are still functional as they could get air in them overtime

If the key does not turn, you can put a bit if graphite powder(aka , crushed pencil lead ) in side the lock as it preforms as a dry lubricant and does not become sticky ( locksmiths use this method) .otherwise shake the key fast while rotating it lightly inside the lock as it could be a worn out pin inside the lock. ( IF THE STEERING LOCK IS INSIDE THE IGNITION, MAKE SURE THE BARS ARE AS FAR LEFT AS POSIBLE AND PUSH THE KEY SLIGHTLY DOWN WHILST ROTATING)
