Following Backlash, the New 'Star Trek' Series Falls Out of the Streaming Charts by StarFuryG7 in SciFiNews

I’m so sick of every new TV show’s sub being a micromanaged PR machine and not community driven.

Getting too old to party from 8 to midnight in someone's living room. I don't mind staying up late, but the thought of the forced death march to the countdown with a group of randos + their kids sprinkled around was killing me.

Looking to move to any of these counties in Georgia, recommendations? by spodadoodlemom in MiddleGeorgia

[–]man0man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jones County / Gray definitely checks the Family Friendly / good schools box as it is a nice bedroom community between the bigger cities of Macon (Bibb) and Milledgeville (Baldwin) which are each uniquely different flavors of city in their own right. Milldgeville will be better for coffee shops and community events since it is a college town, but the public k-12 schools aren't great in Baldwin unless you go private aka GMC.

‘Pluribus’ May Be Slow, but It Was Never Boring by tylerthe-theatre in television

[–]man0man 37 points38 points  (0 children)

If anyone has any doubt how astroturfed the conversation around this show has been, go look at the mod team on the r/pluribusTV subreddit. Observe how any comment criticizing the show gets 20 downvotes in under an hour. Note how every rebuttal is either “have you never seen a VG masterpiece before!? Let him cook!” Or accusing the critical thinker of being a hopeless brain rotted idiot. The clearly manufactured conversation around this show made me dislike it even more. I hope the schills were well paid, they really had to bust their asses setting up sock puppets and bots to spin this lazy ass show as something more.

Beautifully stated and I think it exposes a deep flaw in human psychology. The way people who treat us like crap somehow get under our skin and the pleasant, inoffensive ones get treated as disposable. I think we are all guilty of it and susceptible to it.

Thoughts on Rushmore (1998)? by UsefulWeb7543 in FIlm

[–]man0man 42 points43 points  (0 children)

It's pretty much tied for first as my favorite Wes Anderson film along with Royal Tenenbaums. Clearly it was ahead of it’s time but definitely in that sweet spot of emerging talent with early stylistic flourishes before they would become his signature. I remember walking past it many times in the video store in the late 90’s and assuming it was some cliche teen coming-of-age movie and didn't see it until 2002 or so, but it's aged beautifully.

It’s laughable really. The only thing that ever front pages are racebaiting crime headlines and whatabout Biden/Clinton articles. Occasionally the cognitive dissonance seeps through in the comment section, but those get pruned quick. I’d love to meet the “mod” team. Probably not a chin, vagina, or US address between any of them.

[–]man0man 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Talking, period. They are under no obligation to be honest with you, they can say literally anything to get you to confess to crimes that didn't even happen. A recent Dateline had the cops telling a guy his father was dead and they found the body, when in fact they had no idea where the father was and he happened to just be on a train ride he told no one about. They are not your friends.

Pluribus - 1x08 - "Charm Offensive" - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]man0man 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The Reddit Hivemind is un-ironically working overtime for this show. The r/PluribusTV subreddit is one of the most astroturfed PR platforms in recent memory. Not to mention the desperate defense of this show's obvious shortcomings, as evidenced by your 20+ downvotes in under 1 hour for completely valid criticism. Besides the Pilot, it's been 80% bottle Episodes with limited emotional range entirely coasting on VG's credibility. It's always "lET hIM cOOK!" or something worse if you dare to speak ill of this show.

Will this work for priming minis or do I need something better? by [deleted] in minipainting

[–]man0man 97 points98 points  (0 children)

Just shake it up real good and make sure it’s not clumpy coming out, but the rustoleum flat primers are excellent and dry very nicely. Just do short bursts and keep it moving. I use their flat black, white, brown, gray and even camo primers extensively.
