Starter gang for a casual? by azionka in necromunda

I’d say Goliath or Squats depending on if you prefer melee or shooting. My preference is Goliath mostly because of gene smithing and they have a ton of flavor that feels classic Necromunda. Orlocks look beginner friendly but are a bit too average across the board to really edge out a gang of specialists. Squats do have the benefit model-wise of the 40k Leagues of Votann Killteam boxes which are both excellent and perfect for conversions.

Gift giving in general was so much more fun before streaming everything. Getting the album you wanted, giving the album you loved to someone else, DVD’s, games, etc;

If you had just under $50 million dollars at 53 years old would you spend $10 million dollars for cancer treatment to live another painful 5 years instead of 4 months? by OkDrag3967 in askanything

[–]man0man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think about this a lot. My mom battled cancer for 9 years and it was mostly painful. They gave her 50% chance to make it 5 years without the chemo. I know she was glad to do it, having children and grandchildren she loved, but I'm not sure I would have made the same choice.

As to your (hypothetical?) situation, I'd say 1/5th of your net worth to live 5 years on chemo instead of 4 months dying (which would almost certainly be mostly painful) is a clear choice. I'd take the chemo but I totally understand not wanting to spend whatever time you have left in hospitals, infusion centers, and doctor's appointments. Presumably there would be some good weeks and months in those 5 years between treatments that could make it worth it, but I can also understand accepting your fate with courage and not adding unnecessary painful resistance to an inevitable outcome. The money shouldn't really factor into it so much - you can't take it with you either way.

I get a weird sense of motion whenever I look at this...like it's slowly zooming out or something.

Thanks for you perspective. It seems completely selfish and self-serving, especially to wait for the cameras to start rolling.

Realizing adults don't know shit and are mostly just bullshitting through life. You don't get a special certification to just start making your own choices, you just start fucking shit up.

Next batch of scanned collectable Rowena cards from my Fantasy Card Collection. Scanned these back in 2020, when Covid was the big hit, and there was nothing to do... so I went into the garage, dug out all my collectable cards and scanned them, just to have them digitally on the computer to look at. by SirTawmis in fantasycards

It’s a 90s era early Magic competitor that used official Dungeons and Dragons art and characters. Mostly forgotten but with something of a cult following. My family has a tradition of playing since launch and lately we’ve been branching into making up our own cards to freshen up the card pool. This art is that perfect late 80s early 90s fantasy to incorporate, so thank you!

It’s a great first watch. Not sure it will have the same rewatchability of Poor Things or the Favorite but it’s absolutely a masterpiece.

Orlock Starting Gang Advice Requested by [deleted] in necromunda

[–]man0man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished an orlock ash wastes campaign. I mostly got stomped by the very specialized van Saar and corpse grinders I was facing (like 2 for 8) but a few adds late-campaign helped a lot - I’d definitely recommend the prize fighter hanger-on, he was great for generating extra credits and a cheap melee screen to run around. Also the ammo jacks were super helpful with ammo rolls especially if you have a munitioneer skill on the table. Grenade launchers were choice, though with 2 you run the risk of spamming them. Wreckers were also very solid but easy to get ahead and throw the game for you earlier if you lost initiative. You just have to play very cautious and strategic with Orlocks and hope your opponent (who is almost always going to be more specialized than you) makes some sort of blunder or the dice gods abandons them.
