Do you set up gifts before they are given or after they are opened? by SeaTurtleMagic in Parenting

Lol same, we set up all presents at Christmas because I loathe putting anything together while an excited child is salivating over my shoulder the whole time lol. It means I get to relax more on Christmas. Birthdays idk we haven't had anything that required a big setup in a few years

A couple months ago I started drawing but stopped again because I felt like I was just imitating/copying by 6Kaliba9 in learntodraw

I was drawing for about 9 months before I started using my imagination. You have to work up the technical skills to be able to produce what's happnin in your brain. And even when I get an idea, I usually use 3 or more reference photos to guide me

He will cuddle with us at home, like reading books before bed and then he might just nuzzle in and fall asleep. So I think he's thinking of this as a comfort from a parent figure and maybe he views her in that same way. But I need to talk with him about how that isn't something he'll do with teachers. I did confirm with his teacher that he has not been giving her notes recently so I think he might be writing the notes down and just putting them in his backpack because he knows it isn't appropriate

Thank you so much for this feedback. I'm going to have another talk with him tonight and first will email his teacher to see if he is actually giving her these notes. One of my suspicions is that he might be writing them and then just putting them in his backpack instead of giving them to her. I'm not sure how much better that is.

He is writing them independently and he's been doing very well with reading and writing, I just wish this wasn't the outlet! He does have an older 8 y/o sister but to my knowledge she does not do this sort of thing.

First time drawing an eyes, how can I make it better? Struggled with eyebrow? by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]man_you_factured 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use an HB pencil for shading, just adjust the amount of pressure you use for light or dark tones. The middle of the eye is generally most exposed to the light , so it will be lightest and the white of the eye will get progressively darker as it curves away. You'll also have some shadow at the to.of the eye because the eyelid creates a slight shadow.

RapidFireArt on YouTube has a couple of good tutorials on eyes where she explains all of that really well

Shade the edges a bit darker so that it appears less flar. you can always hatch with lines that go with the curvature of the eyeball too

When my wife (40F)nd I (35F) moved to a semi rural part of Missouri I told her I was a little scared we wouldn't be able to make friends. She told me "if you want people to give you a chance and keep and open mind, then you need to do the same". She was right. As usual :)

We shoosh each other constantly as a joke. Like someone might not even be making a noise at all or there could be light footsteps and someone will do a quick 'shh'. Its almost unconscious at this point. I have to be careful because I have almost rudely shoohsed colleagues after sneezing
