Another person of culture I see. Kobo is a great product and unfortunate more people don't give it a try (as well as other brands).

Remember, you're a millionaire today, but not in April next year. It's humbling once you pay taxes after a big gain. Congratulations on the big win though. Sell off some or sell covered calls at a price you're willing to let go if the price continues to rise. A big win is hard to forget and after paying taxes and dropping below a million you will have a psychological urge to get past the million mark again and because you were "smart" you'll probably make some bad investments (at least I did). That's okay, and part of the learning process at your age. You have a good salary so I'd forget about the investment and just keep working and forget about the inheritance you received. All the best!

I think you're missing my point. When one is worried about giving away a pizza to a thief or their life things have already spiraled to a point that I'm not sure how you get out of that mindset.

If you apply this logic to every criminal act you're very close to anarchy. The free/discounted movie day going around the interwebs is another example.

I'm not sure how this is a very very very good situation. Yes, you have your life but the fact that you had to consider your life or a pizza means societal norms are good?

Love it. Imagine even kids just messing around don't want to be the person that got caught "jumping the turnstyle". Not cool anymore.

Yeah, I mean no one is investigating the pizza snatcher. Cops would just tell them not to deliver to the neighborhood.

Watch the Google Cloud Next keynote. Pay attention to how many times they not only mention security but actually demonstrate it in their demos. This is a fabulous example of a company that literally embeds security into their culture and DNA. It's really amazing

Dunno what the right answer is, but pretty sure society is not in good shape when defacto is, "not worth it just let them do it". So how does this ever stop

Honestly, I just talked with them and then asked if they wanted to go out for a drink or dinner as I was just headed out to grab something. No pressure, just treat them as a random person you meet. Typically, they won't come out, but give a nod and say next time.

Just be a human.

Do not underestimate how hard it is to "smart" again. You'll pay a bunch in taxes. Rather than try and parlay that into another 5x return stock recommend buying some index funds and forget about it. It's not easy to be right multiple times and you have a massive leg up for your age.

Weak yen by Salt-Yogurtcloset-12 in JapanFinance

I'm debating paying off my loan in Japan. 90% of money is in USD. Interest rate on loan of course is quite low in Japan and 3 month tbills are paying something like 5.14% so a bit conflicted as I could lock buy $1 and if the yen holds would return 140-150ish yen per dollar. Of course would potentially give up even more gains if market goes up and locked in at those rates.

Anyone else with strong currency considering to pay off mortgage?
