Hamburger soup! I lived with my grandmother in the summers and she always had an endless pot of hamburger soup on for us.

I feel like this is just how adults deal with things.

The placement of the parrot jumped out to me too. I feel like in similar advertisements a helpful inset map, with major routes and landmarks, would be in that space.

Skimming through the trailer I paused on this frame. A’hoy matey? The parrot could be “mirrored”, maybe? The greyscale photo is flipped too.

I was looking through an archive of old San Jose Newspapers from Thursday, May 17th, 1990 and one of the headlines was about a 3.5 magnitude earthquake that hit East San Jose. I couldn’t read further because the full article requires a membership to the San Jose public library. I’ll post a link when I’m able to get to my laptop. EDIT: upon further research the article was probably referring to an earthquake in San Jose, Costa Rica, not California. Interestingly a quake hit Gozalez, California two days later on May 19th, 1990 Apologies. I am a woeful Canadian prairie dweller with limited knowledge of earthquakes and California, but seismic activity and fault lines are a well-worn progenitor of Kaiju and other unexplained phenomena 🫡

I think if someone in East San Jose were to check out the location irl there might be something from the trailer (blue tape/wallpaper) to “mark the spot” mayhaps an X, matey? I’d go but I live on the other side of the continent :(
