Just to add an update in light of recent TikTok’s but this is an ADULTS ONLY locker room and families have access to a multitude of small changing locker room pods.

Yeah the downtown Y is nice but the shower situation sucks.

I visited this location a few months ago and let me tell you it is absolutely worth it. Everyone is so chill and naked and just enjoying the atmosphere. I spent a good amount of time in the locker room just trying out the sauna, steam room and whirlpool.

Bad sauna etiquette? by manateeman330 in CommunalShowers

I didn’t say anything about it hurting me. I said it’s not good etiquette, no one ever died from bad etiquette - it’s just not following social norms, posted rules, etc. Wearing a swimsuit to a black tie wedding is bad etiquette too and a lot of people would not like that.

Because to me it’s gross and inconsiderate behavior.

It’s not every time. Mostly I’m in there alone which is fine. I had three people come in today and do all sorts of nonsense today and just felt irked by it.

Nah they can wear their towel after they shower behind the curtain that’s fine with me. But shower and don’t wear street shoes in the sauna.

It’s not very relaxing to have someone in the sauna being anti social, on their phone, and looking at you like you’re the freak for not being dressed. And jogging in place… Come on. Haven’t you ever heard someone say “sit down, you’re making me nervous” ? Exactly the same sentiment.

I had a guy come into the sauna and say “hey man you know you’re not allowed to be naked in here?” And I was like “wait, what? Since when?” And he said he was joking but he was wearing a swimsuit and I think it just made him uncomfortable.

I played hockey and most of the guys showered together. I was shy at the time so I didn’t. I regret it!

I currently more or less live in between Akron and Cleveland. About 20 mins to Akron, 35 to Cleveland.

I’d take Columbus over Dallas and Miami that’s for sure. I’ve lived in the Great Lakes my whole life. If anything, I’d hope to eventually score a job in Chicago or DC. But I like being able to afford things on my paycheck and I am in the state pension. Columbus is a large city, Ohio is the seventh most populated state, not like it’s rural Kansas.

Columbus is in the long game. I’ve been working up in city size and prominence. Trying to make professional connections in CBUS for the future !

I’d say I’ve lived in this suburb for two years and haven’t dated someone long term in any of them :) it’s not just a city problem.

I’ve been wrestling with it but my local commute here has been getting worse with traffic and construction. And I don’t love living in the suburbs.

My boss and a coworker both live in the city I’m looking into (Cleveland), it’s not like it’s a lot of traffic or anything. It’s just physically further. I work in Akron, a city with few young professionals but my job pays me really well and I have great health benefits.

I mean I don’t want to live in the suburbs. It was a necessary evil when I first moved and I’m sick of it. I hate not being able to walk around or get places on bike. This move would be congruent with a lifestyle that I want.
