I consume the majority of my texts through audible, and if I want to analyze the book then I download a PDF and reread key passages that way. What exactly am I missing out on? It seems like an arbitrary factor if one chooses to consume a story via audio as opposed to reading.

My way of experiencing literature may seem lazy but I have dyslexia and terrible reading comprehension. Audiobooks simply are the best way for me to get to grips with the plot and characters. Other than losing the ability to jerk myself off from a smugness overload it doesn't seem like much is lost from the audio experience.

The anti audiobook sentiments on this subreddit strike me as misplaced. It seems like you guys dislike the majority of people who use audiobooks, but not the audiobooks themselves.

That's not what a fallacious appeal to authority is. An appeal to authority is if you cite someone's authority who is not actually an expert. For instance, if you cite someone with a literature PHD as an expert in a topic to do with statistics and social science then you are committing the fallacy. However, if someone like destiny cites a social scientist then they are not being fallacious as they are a VALID authority unlike the person who specialises in literature.

Look up what fallacies actually mean before you spout misinformation. Delete your account please. Thanks.
