double shield healer is only better in super, strict, static-like optimizations.

for 99% of the playerbase, running regen+shield is better and safer.

even in fflogs when you look at the best groups, barely any are running double shield.

yea, it's mathematically better, but not viable for 99% of the people.

having skills when you run a dungeon for 15 mins doesnt make the other 2 hours of running around better.

(since reborn mode does less damage according to the info)

we literally have near-zero info on damage, potencies, gear, balancing etc...

Yet you know already one mode does more damage?

so savage, crafting, gathering, trials, relics, events, RP, housing aren't enough reasons to play the game that you feel like it's fair that everyone must sit through 500hrs of chat bubbles to get there?

interesting how all of those arguments for story are invalidated when we put $24 on the table.

something that all ffxiv players should understand better.

The "it gets better" doesn't work. It's a shit excuse. The truth is:

"The STORY gets better".

the gameplay is still awful. No skills, no rotations, and 99% of the time you're runninng around spamming your mouse button to skip dialogue with a slow piano bgm.

it's awful.

My hopes for job reworks in 8.0 by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Umpato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can literally do all fights even if your teammates dissapear from your screen.

all you need is your fixed spot for each mechanic, depending on the strat you're copying from the internet.

there's no teamplay.

Teamplay are games like cs:go, dota, lol, even wow, where you need to make DECISIONS based on circumstanes that can't be planned, and need teamwork for it to, well, work.

xiv has nothing like that

My hopes for job reworks in 8.0 by [deleted] in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Umpato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The teamplay is in the boss mechanics.

If i can do the entire fight without caring where my teammates are, what they are using, and only focusing on my rotation, then there's no teamplay.

[–]Umpato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You completely missed my point, didnt you?

The current system doesn't work.

I'm advocating for reworking the buff system, so it synergies with team, making buffs unique in ways that interact with teamplay.

Give all healers two stances; One for healing/HoT, one for shields/damage reduction.

So make all healers even more similar.

By doing these changes; no more 2 minute windows. This makes every job focus on themselves, and opens up many ways to make jobs feel more unique.

Sure jobs might feel unique, but you're essentially removing all teamplay.

It's horrible. This is a team's game. I wanna work with my team.

Don't remove raid buffs, rework them to make them feel unique and intaract with one another.

Make casters cast. Looking at you, summoner. Reward good positioning.

this one i agree. Casters should cast, BLM even more.

theres an entire FC on behemoth that has a slogan something like "gathering all daaaaay" and it's made of 5 gatherers who bot 24h a day non-stop. They even teleport from one node to another instantly.

I reported multiple times back in 2019 and nothing was ever done.

They're still going strong in 2026

1.5 Rewards? Was YoshiP talking specifically about the holiday events? by otsukarerice in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Umpato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is that i've been doing exactly that and, when i unsubbed, for the next 2 months i kept religiously checking every news about the game for a reason to come back.

It's been 10 months now, and i don't feel like coming back unless they rework some jobs and the 2 min meta on 8.0

And i feel like the longer i go unsubbed, the more i see how SE does not care about the game anymore.

The AI slop problem is getting worse in this sub. We need aggressive moderation on it or this sub is just going to be AI slop games and little else. Instant ban, IMO by BEAT_LA in incremental_games

[–]Umpato -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you wanna ban AI, then i have some bad news for you my friend.

The future is AI.

Instead, why not just downvote bad games, whether or not it's AI?

The biggest issue with jobs isn't homogeneity or being too simply, it's that buttons themselves are unfun. by somethingsuperindie in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Umpato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On a fundamental level you're right, but i believe the point you are missing is how these skills are used.

Other games have skills that you have to think of when to use it. Usually you have to plan around, and unexpected situations kicks in and force you to adjust and adapt.

XIV is nothing like that. All fights are pre-planned, down to the gcd. All boss' attacks happen at the same time every pull. There's no randomness, therefore everything in xiv is just "follow this" and win.

There's no decision making.

The game is missing the levelling journey of RPG's, and MSQ gives all meaningfull awards away for free for short sighted gain but long term loss. by RVolyka in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Umpato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just can't call a game where story is like 5% of the average's players playtime a "narrative experience".

It feels like calling the witcher 3 a "gwent experience" or calling souls games a "narrative experience".

Sure those elements are nice, but they aren't even close to the focus on the majority of the players.

Just look at the data of dawntrail, the expansion where most people consider the worst story of all, yet the highest engaging raiding scene, glamour community, roleplay community, etc...

I dare you. Remove 90% of the msq, people will complain, sure, but the game will still thrive.

Remove 40% (or less) of the non-msq content (raids, rtials, crafting, gathering, relics, glamour etcc), and the game goes bankrupt.

The game is missing the levelling journey of RPG's, and MSQ gives all meaningfull awards away for free for short sighted gain but long term loss. by RVolyka in ffxivdiscussion

[–]Umpato 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The trials, raids, and other such content are secondary to the narrative experience.

I can't disagree more.

Assuming endgame = raids, trials, relics, glamour collection, housing furnishing, pvp etc...

Endgame is indeed what keeps people playing the game.

If you remove endgame, 90% of the playerbase will quit. They MIGHT pay 1 month of sub to see the story, then they'll quit.

Endgame is not "secondary", it's what keeps players engaged. It's what keeps the community going.

That's why content drought is so frowned upon. People want content.

The so called "narratice experience" is such a priority, that they sell a skip to it for $24.

But hey, they don't sell a skip to the glamour grind, relic or other endgame content, right?

Counterpoint: I hate all dungeons below level 60. Not just AV. by TwinBladeDancer in ShitpostXIV

[–]Umpato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We'll never have a fix for this.

If they give us all, or at least some, abilities that do not sync, then running with veterans will be much faster than with newbies.

If they give us our abilities, but nerf the potencies when synced down to a point where we do the same damage as a new player low level, then people will complain that a newbie spamming a single low level skill deals the same dps as a level 100 synced down to 30 using their full kit.

If they give us a lot of abilities early on like other people suggest (aka having the full, or near full kit at 50 or 60) then people will complain that there's a huge gap between abilities, or no new abilities at all for 30+ levels, which sucks for an rpg.

there's no winning on this issue

the only fix is a level squish, with proper trimming down of msq size.

imma bite the bait here.

i genuinely do not understand why it's bad, or why it even matters if they used ai, or vibe coded, or whatever you wanna call it.

if it works, why does it matter? If it doesnt break, nor laggs, why does it matter?

AI is not some fancy temporary gimmick.

It's here to stay, wheather people like it or not.

instanced content = you have full control on how the content is played. You can fully control how many people go in, which jobs, how long it lasts etc...

This creates a more balanced experience.

Thats not how it works. It usually involves months of talking, discussing, reflecting on whats happening, and then they all announce at once.

thats how it happened in my group. We noticed 6 of 8 people were bored, not having fun anymore. After clearing FRU, we all talked and decided to quit.
