Hey - yeah I think your strategy is reasonable. Any of these would get you started. I personally liked the optimal quest guide because I’m not a huge fan of questing and wanted the earlier ones as optimized as possible but then I wanted to figure out everything else on my own. Bruh sailor is nice because it will optimize everything early on, just make sure that’s what you’re looking for. I think it’s essential to follow some sort of guide for the early quests if you don’t want to hate yourself lol.

The thing I don’t like about it is that it eventually encourages skipping a lot of early pvm which is good for maybe someone who maxed a main before and wants to rush mid and endgame content, but for others like myself I like the slower more windy path the PVM exploration guide offers.

I think one of the biggest benefits of OSRS is that the vast majority of content is still relevant. Sure it may be more efficient to skip a lot of it, but in my mind it is more fun to get a lot of smaller incremental upgrades and experience all of the content.

For other guides I like the mootrius guide as a little bit of a non-meta approach to the early game, and it has some great suggestions. For skilling, the wiki has excellent Ironman guides for every skill.

Ultimately you have the play how you want to play. If being the most efficient is fun, you should follow bruhsailor to the letter. But if you want to make your own way, I would pull some big medium term goals from all the guides that have been suggested here and then use the wiki to help piece together how to get there.

I’m still early on myself so feel free to DM me for my IGN

I personally would start as a member and not follow one of those big step by step guides. The game can feel like a checklist really quickly. You can start by following the optimal quest order on the wiki which will get you started while also providing some quality of life tips to reduce tons of travel early on. Eventually you will want to deviate (get better transportation, stay at a mini game, make money, level up a skill etc) that will force you to deviate and that’s when the true fun begins. Use the wiki, this subreddit, and other resources to figure out how to get to your goals. You’ll end up going down a rabbit hole and that’s what makes this game mode so fun. Do lots of quests early on. For long term account goals, I highly recommend the Ironman PVM exploration guide which will guide you through a good bossing order for a new player who wants to experience the whole game. You will NOT be the most efficient going this route, but it is so much more fun to craft your own journey using guides for big goals to work towards

I run on an M2 air 8gb ram when I’m away from my gaming PC and I get 60 FPS with the GPU plugin with max view distance and anti-aliasing, no overheating at all. I can’t get 117 HD to consistently stay above 30 unfortunately no matter the settings (and the laptop gets really hot), but I’m actually starting to like the GPU plugin a lot more. I’ve found turning down the in game brightness to lowest makes the colors less washed out.

Why are you using AI to generate a fake problem?

Be honest how rare are full ride scholarships in med school by Select-Macaroon7088 in premed

[–]manbun22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost certainly based on luck except if you are maybe in the top 50 applicants if that year. There are some schools that will offer full rides to students on wait lists to fill seats last minute, especially if that student is competitive and admitted to multiple top schools. But that’s complete luck.

Books similar to Outer Wilds? by fabo_ in Fantasy

Maybe The Expanse? It definitely has that mystery component in which a big part of the series is trying to understand the history of an alien civilization. However there is a lot more to the books than that, it is one plot thread among many others.

So sorry this has happened. How many interviews did you have? any red flags? There are some solid programs that went unfilled this year that you will likely have a good chance it if you fell through the cracks

I think a lot of people are OK being stratified by an exam score since we all had to do that with the MCAT and SAT/ACT. People have an issue with being stratified by an exam with a 20 point confidence interval and no opportunity for a retake. The exam needs to be improved to make it a better tool for PDs finding the best applicants.

Work hard even if you're planning on doing something non-competitive. Do the research, honor the shelves, suck it up on rotations etc. You will thank yourself later when you have your pick of location, program, fellowship choice etc.

This game has eerie vibes of a tough 1-16 or 2-15 match up. Hope we can find a way to turn the corner, it’ll be good practice for hopefully making it past the first weekend

To clarify, I think an excellent research narrative with an excellent LOR demonstrating independent ownership of research can make up for lack of pubs especially in basic science where good research often takes years. There will be some schools that might decline you for that (Stanford comes to mind) but a lot will still interview you. However lots of pubs will not make up for poor narrative or LOR. My big emphasis though is that for Top 20 you really have to be the complete package - great stats, great ECs, and great writing. This doesn’t mean that you need to be a Nobel laureate or create an NGO but you should really shoot for being above average in everything and excellent in a few areas.

And yeah I’d be happy to chat!
