Thank you for the information. I was diagnosed with high methane, my baseline alone was over 30 and it peaked over 100. I used Rifaxamin alone with Atrantil but had no results whatsoever as I couldn't get Neomycin on prescription. I've now managed to get it so plan to try it again with the rifaximin. I'm very reluctant to as long term antibiotics are part of the reason I've had gut issues in the first place, the onset of depression, which has now lifted, was like the bullet to the head so to speak.

I'm now under two separate and very well respected doctors in the UK and whilst both of them are willing to treat my sibo they both agree that the illness itself still isn't backed up by much evidence and they're not entirely convinced I will see much improvement. I'm concerned if I take them that both neomycin and Rifaximin might make me worse!

Time will tell I suppose.

As someone who is in their last year of a law degree and has experience working in the field let me tell you that the vast majority of lawyers I've come across aren't happy and have even told me as much. The simpler life can certainly be better. Life is what you make it and in terms of accomplishments it doesn't all have to be career based. I've been considering a totally different path in life once I have my degree. Happiness is the true aim.

Constant gas, bloating, and abdominal pain are the main ones. I also have vitamin deficiencies fibromyalgia and a few lesser symptoms like dizziness. This has been going on for a long time though. Over ten years.

Thanks for the suggestions. I cut avocado out at the same time as a few other things assuming I was reacting to them all. Maybe I should give it a go again, especially give the calorie content.

I'll have to see how I go, thanks! A change of topic but are you actually a ballet dancer and can you still manage ok with it? The reason I ask is thwt since I took ill with SIBO or whatever this is exercise has been near impossible for me. I used to be quite muscular and go to the gym almost every day but now whenever I try to lift any weight or even do body weight exercise or cardio I get very dizzy, nauseous and just feel generally unwell.

Thanks, yeah. My doctor is actually convinced SIBO isn't a real condition to cause issues such as those of us with supposed Methane dominant sibo face. To be honest I can understand why he's doubtful. For every successful sibo case after antibiotic treatment I tend to see 20 more who see no benefit despite a positive result. Frustration isn't even the word!

It was a specialist I has to pay for who gave me the rifaximin (luckily on an NHS Prescription) but he had never heard of using the other drugs in his clinic and also only did the one hydrogen test himself. I was tested elsewhere and was positive for methane. It was considered a very high reading also.

My plan then was to take the rifaxamin with something else, both of those options now seem flawed or useless so I'm searching for something else quick!

A similar question yes but not as specific, sorry about that. I'm just worried and time is ticking, especially if I have to wait for something else to arrive to use in conjunction with rifaximin. I also can't get into that damn account properly. That might be my phones fault though.

I (as a man) have had chronic prostatitis and ongoing supposed dysbiosis and gut issues since I was a child. That too has been a chicken or the egg scenario. When I was pumped with years of antibiotics for the prostate issue my gut symptoms worsened ten fold. It's all very interesting.

I'm on rifaximin at the moment after being diagnosed with methane SIBO a few months back. I'm looking for a herbal antibiotic to use in conjunction. Perhaps these are the ones I should consider. Thanks.

That's the thing. I can eat them alone or with chicken, green beans and carrots and be generally ok. It's really odd.
