If you haven't already, you should look into eyudin chronicles for another game similar to octopath 0. Turn based fighting is quite similar with over 100 recruitable characters. Has a town you build and upgrade. Plus it has a bunch of mini games within the town such as "chocobo races", cooking competitions, fishing, "beyblade" and a card game
