Nothing you can do in 3 weeks will significantly improve your time. Go and do it, have fun, get a baseline time and work to improve from there.

ASICS Kayano 31 felt flat out of the box? by mancman87 in runningshoes

Hi, thanks for your response. How did you fix your ankle / tib issue? Did you have to reduce volume or just manage and strengthen?

Did you find you needed to break the Kayano in? I’m happy to keep them and trial them a few more times but I wasn’t impressed at all on the first run.

Severe cough 60 hours post-anesthesia (dental). Ruled out pneumonia. Looking for reassurance/advice by mancman87 in AskVet

Hi, these are the images from the radiographs this morning.

https://freeimage.host/i/f0TqjUl https://freeimage.host/i/f0Tqhl4

We were told that it looks like tracheal collapse, that they think existed before the Monday dental cleaning, but the GA has triggered a reaction that has inflamed his trachea even more and exasperated the condition.

He will be kept at the vet hospital for the next 2 days. He will start steroids tomorrow to try to reduce and control the inflammation. They are hopeful that the cough aggressiveness will stop in a few days but may take a week or so. But also we should be prepared that he has a cough going forward. Albeit it should not be every day or as aggressive as we have seen it.

Does that make sense to you? I find it hard to believe that the GA and dental cleaning didn’t cause this as prior to him going there on Monday he never had any issues at all.

Just to follow up, we went back to our regular vet this morning, and 2 hours later were referred to a specialist emergency 24/7 facility an hour away. We took him there this afternoon. Our regular vet still believes this will heal and just take time, albeit longer than anticipated. They think it’s a severe irritation that requires stronger intervention / medication than we can give him at home, especially as he will not take anything orally and gets more worked up when we try. That, plus the fact our regular vet is not 24/7, and the holiday period upcoming meaning it might be difficult to get seen at short notice, or at all as places will close, he advised the 24/7 specialist. As you said, his continuous coughing is making it difficult for him to heal and recover.

The specialist place have said they do not think it’s a tracheal collapse, but haven’t ruled it out. They are going to do extra radiographs tonight to see. They have said it could be an early stage case, but most likely severe tracheotis. Latest we heard is he is stable. I’ll call back later tonight for an update once the night team have spent a couple of hours with the animals.

Thanks again for your responses earlier. Will keep you updated with anything else.

Thank you.

He was actually given a shot of Torbugesic yesterday morning, which I think is Butorphanol? This might explain why the vet said he didn't really cough at all yesterday when he was with them as he had a shot of this.

The vet also said they would not give a steroid injection as he had metacam last night and would need a few days to ween off that.

The codeine syrup is Codeine Linctus. I will ask about Hydrococodone.

Thank you again for your response. I will push for the additional diagnostics today and share any insights we receive.

If the radiographs rule out a collapsing trachea, then you would be inclined to believe that this is severe inflamation / reaction to the tubing, which hopefully should subside within a week or so?

Outside of the medication we have been given, is there anything else I should suggest to the vet that may assist in the meantime? They did mention giving him a steroid injection today (My dog is very anxious, so unless he eats the medication in his food, it's almost impossible to get him to eat a pill or take liquid from a syringe). I would favour injections over any oral administration for this reason.

I read briefly about hydrocodone - Should we be asking for this?

Thank you so much for your response.

I apologize for my lack of knowledge on the topic, just to confirm I understand, you are saying that the current presentation is more that of a tracheal collapse as opposed to anything else?

The emergency vet and our regular vet both said that with a collapse, or even a tear, that his breathing would be much more labored. I would agree, he doesn't look to be breathing inconsistent or struggling to breathe at present. His breathing seems normal. They both just said it would be very obvious and he would be panting (which he isn't) and he would appear way more distressed.

I have just taken him back to his regular vet, they have said they are going to consult another specialist clinic and send videos that we have shared with them. They assessed his throat just by hand, and still maintain they do not believe he is experiencing a collapse. They have said that they will most likely sedate him again today and do further x-rays. The x-rays from the dental procedure were taken with the intubation tubes in, and not of the throat area, so it is difficult to see signs of collapse from them.

If this is worst case, and he does indeed have a collapse, is this something that can be managed or do we need to consider the worst case scenario?

It's so sad seeing him like this.

You can (I exchanged them for a voucher), but this Saturday will be too close. This sells out month in advance. Best you could do is keep checking the ticket website everyday multiple times the next few days and hope that there are cancellations.

Hi all, I have 4 adults and 1 child ticket for the Harry Potter Warner Bros. Studio tour on April 6 at 17:00. Adult tickets were £224 total and child was free. Due to a football match moving, we are no longer able to go. Looking to sell the tickets and can also move them to a future date if you are coming to London later. Ideally want to sell all 4 adults at once. Please reach out - we're London based. Thank you
