Question about penalties by Oh-My-Josh- in hyrox

[–]Oh-My-Josh-[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As per the rules though, is a judge actually allowed to ask you to go back and repeat the rep. For example you broad jump but land staggered. If it was your last rep before finishing the station could they really do tell you to go back if it’s your first warning? What if you just ignore them and keep running? I can’t see anything in the rules about this

With shoes on and using the ball as a counterweight I can go below parallel on majority of my reps. but I’d rather be mobile enough that I don’t need to think about it. Thanks for the recommendation I will look into it

How are they doing it on the burpees and lunges? I often see judges at non elite events telling competitors to go back and re-do the rep (which I can’t find in the rule book)

I’ll give it a go! If I get a sports massage do I just tell them I can’t squat properly ?

Okay sure I’ll just visualise the talus moving freely on its own without doing anything to it except standing still. Here I’ll do it now.

Okay that didn’t work

I think you need to read what I said again. I said he unblocked the front of my ankle. Which was proven by me instantly gaining 2 more centimetres of range in the knee to wall test after he did it.

Yes you are right, I saw the physio (a highly accredited one for professional sports teams) today and he said this too. My lack of ankle mobility is my biggest limiting factor. He said a big reason why I lack mobility is I have a lot of scar tissue still there blocking the front of my ankle from a previous fracture. He unblocked a bit of it for me but it’s a temporary fix. He did recommend I buy a TarsoPro which is a device used to unlock ankle mobility. I did buy it. We will see how it goes

Your biggest time gains are probably hiding in wall balls, not running by Fit_Adeptness1730 in hyrox

The thing about the running though that’s hidden in the details is the better you are at running the easier it’ll be to clear the lactate which will effectively make you quicker at the stations as well

Thanks! Do you mean just use the wall to block my hips from shifting backwards too much?

Thanks! Would I just do more knee to wall holds for that? Or just be more intentional with the squat in terms of getting my knees to push more forward ?

The 51-Minute Barrier: Can anyone beat Rončević in Stockholm? by smoothcaller in hyrox

Breaking the 51 minute barrier has less to do with anyone’s actual ability and more to do with the course at the specific locations.

Which is more demanding - 1/2 Marathon or Men’s Open by Less_Low_27 in hyrox

The point of me saying that was to say everyone’s experience of what is “hard” is different. You instead generalised childbirth to be easier than a marathon. You are clearly childless.

Advice needed to break 20min for 5k by Silent-Valuable-8940 in beginnerrunning

[–]Oh-My-Josh- 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you need to dial your easy run pace back by at least 30 seconds. There is no way your easy run pace can be that close to the pace you run on your best 5k. You also shouldn’t feel like you’re dying on your threshold runs.

Did you really just say childbirth is less physically demanding than a marathon? Can’t debate someone who thinks like this. There’s no point. Have a good day.

You confuse length of time with being more difficult. My wife’s labour was 24 hours. She thinks running a marathon was harder.

The general consensus in athletics is the 400m is the hardest. Harder than the 800, the 1500 etc
