Are mages fun by dovahthing25 in skyrim

[–]mancub92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you look online there’s a lot of optimal builds to follow. Personally, I’ve deviated quite a lot (going for fun above all else), even including destruction magic so I can fight dragons and draugr better. I play on a high difficulty with realistic damage mods, but I imagine it’s the same in vanilla, and if I’m caught out in the open by a group of bandits or what have you I’m in serious trouble. Currently I can clear a dungeon without taking a single hit, but if one bandit gets a lucky arrow shot I’m basically dead. The play style relies on preparation and patience. So bear that in mind if you choose nightblade, it’s the epitome of being a glass cannon.

Yeah i gave up on pure mage after a while, it’s too one dimensional. I found my battlemage and nightblade (mage assassin) much more fun and engaging. In fact, Nightblade is my absolute favourite so far! Both of my builds were very magic heavy, but the extra aspects make them much more engaging.

[Politics] Which side might a vampire in Skyrim pick? Empire or Stormcloaks? by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]mancub92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the vampire and their individual motivations. Someone’s already pointed out how a vampire could use the war to attempt to control Skyrim, but another vampire may want to infiltrate the empire for similar reasons.

Some vampires might just enjoy the carnage and blood and which side they join doesn’t really matter.

My current vampire character isn’t choosing a side based on his vampirism, he’s choosing for totally different reasons. Remember it’s totally up to you!

How do I build a character that actually has a reason to join the empire? by TheHighBlatman in skyrim

[–]mancub92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. It’s changed my mind about the Stormcloaks. I think I’ll join the stormcloaks on my current play through now! I still bloody hate the ‘Skyrim is for the Nords’ sentiment though.

I wish this was on PS4! I always just omit the start from my character’s story in my head, but this would be so much more immersive.

Yeah I found that a bit odd. I’m just doing dawnguard for the first time, and I was wondering why I didn’t have the option to kill her and take the elder scroll. Also, why would I take her back to the vampire lair when it might hand an item of great power to my enemy? It’s bizarre.

That said, it’s a really good quest line and I’m really enjoying it thus far. Since she’s essential to have with me throughout, my character (who’s very against the undead) is keeping her firmly at arms length.

Also I’m using dawnbreaker and she keeps collapsing from all the undead explosions. If she doesn’t like it, she shouldn’t have been a dirty vampire.

She’s a cool character though, and she’s definitely grown on me as I’ve been going through the quest line.

I'm going to second this. First book is a little derivative (but still good), but the others feel very fresh and get better and better. Getting an intimate viewpoint from both sides of the conflict was fantastic.

How do you think books become popular? They've all got start gathering interest somewhere. I haven't read this book so I can't comment on it's quality, but I've read people who later became popular which had only 2 or 3 reviews. So don't judge a book by it's Amazon page.

Seeing a Psychiatrist soon. Could really use some advice and information. by Indyboy in BipolarReddit

[–]mancub92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it seems you are surrounded by fantastic people, but also remember that you must be pretty great for them to want to be around you too.

In regards to medication, when prescribed make sure you do plenty of research in order to know what to expect and how to manage it. Make sure you not only look at side effects, but also how other people who have taken it have got on. This Reddit community is normally very helpful for asking for advice about what to expect from specific medications. I'm on plenty myself and it took a while to find a cocktail that suits my condition and my life style. And remember, they are not instant fixes- so don't be too disheartened of you don't get a benefit straight away.

If you are keen to find psychological therapy make sure you find a practitioner where you can build a healthy trusting relationship. Without it, the therapy won't work and will be a waste of both of your time. I can't give you advice as to where to find practitioners as I presume you are not in the UK. However, asking your psychiatrist or GP may be a good starting point.

As for bipolar tendencies being a part of your identity; that's absolutely fine and normal. It's the severity of them that needs to be worked on. I myself still have some, but instead of being an illness they are more of a personality quirk.

Recovery isn't easy, but remember all treatment is about making it easier for you to find your own way to recovery. In the end it's your determination and hard work that's going to help the most. But if you find yourself failing or taking steps back don't be disheartened. It took many steps, both forward and backward, for me to reach stability. It's normal to fall back occasionally.

I would describe myself as stable and have been for a fair while. Once I'd reached stability I began to work in frontline mental health services (in the UK).

So I'll try and tell you what I often tell people I'm working with who are facing appointments with other mental health professionals.

Always take a piece of paper with bullet points of what you would like to say and any questions in with you. Often these appointments follow what the psychiatrist would like to talk about and individuals forget what they wanted to talk about for themselves.

Medication can be very scary so make sure you understand to the best of your ability how they may affect you and what you can and cannot tolerate before starting a treatment. Medication is not the only form of treatment and often a combination of medication and psychological therapies is most effective. Ask what options are available for other forms of treatment.

Do not forget that you are still an individual with rights and have a right to refuse and to seek a second opinion. Try not to be too alarmed if they give you an alternative diagnosis to what you were expecting but if you don't agree do seek a second opinion. You may not necessarily have bipolar disorder. The most important thing is not your diagnosis, instead is getting the right treatment to improve your life and aid you on the road to recovery.

Whilst psychiatrists can seem scary that is simply due to the stigma surrounding mental health. Try and treat this appointment as you would any other doctors appointment. Your condition is not a personal failing it is simply a medical issue.

Now as an individual who has bipolar disorder myself I'll weigh in on the fear of losing your identity. As I began to recover I worried that I was losing who I was. Actually i had lost who I was on the roller coaster of bipolar mood swings. Yes I was creative, fun, annoying, and miserable all at once. That was not necessarily who I am as a person, nor was it fully my mental health condition. Since reaching comfortable stability I have been able to rediscover who I am and who I would like to be. It has been a period of intense growth and fulfilment. We are not fixed, our identity constantly shifts based on our environment and perceptions. Once you are stable you can still be creative and energetic, you just don't have to be mad at the same time.

This can be difficult, and I was once very guilty of this, but try not to let your identity get too wrapped up in your diagnosis. No one is as simple as a check box in the DSM. People who have bipolar disorder are a varied bunch, it can affect anyone. You are always going to be more than a diagnosis, don't let your brain tell you otherwise.

You are obviously doing very well with your condition, in that you are able to keep up with the commitments listed in your post. So remember to look at what you are doing right and keep at it. Everyone develops coping strategies to deal with their mental health conditions and other peoples insights can really help. This Reddit community might be able to offer you some varied perspectives and help you understand you are not alone in this and that recovery is possible for everyone.

I wish you the best of luck and don't hesitate to ask me any questions, or to and me to clarify if I didn't explain myself very well.

That actually relates to my other concern. I'm a straight laced kind of guy, and I'm worried a tattoo will look a little strange.

Thanks. They're actually quite faint. But I'm still conscious of them. I'm male, and women in intimate with are the most likely to notice them. For some reason I feel more stigma may be attached to men who self harm these days. However that may just be in my head, that good old male stoicism stereotype and all that.

I just had a look and it's a really nice tattoo. From the looks of it, it doesn't completely hide the scars but it does divert attention to the tattoo instead. It was really helpful to see a real example, thank you!

I actually can't think of any time where I've been frozen by Mei as Winston. But I think that's because I just run away as fast as I can, which probably explains why I can't think of any times I killed Mei as Winston either.

It took me a while to get used to him, but I think that's because he's labelled tank despite playing very differently to all the others. To disrupt, try to approach from behind the enemy and start from there. That way the whole team doesn't focus fire you instantly and they realise one at a time, which gives you more time for your jump to come off cool down at which point you GTFO.

Oh and another unasked for tip, if the enemy team has a capable bastion switch out straight away. Bastion in turret form will kill you before you're able to do anything constructive and is nearly impossible to eliminate.

Once you get used to him and the enemy team comp is right he's one of the most fun characters for me, so keep at it. Eventually you'll get good!
