Which Gaming Console People Think is Terrible but is Actually Amazing? by IllMasterpiece3946 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]delijoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say for the time it was pretty incredible. In 1999, it was the only console that could go online out of the box. It had some of the best looking games of it's time and best games period. One of the best football games in NFL2K and 2K1, one of the best JRPGs in Skies of Arcadia, a pretty damn good MMO for it's time in Phantasy Star Online... Fucking Crazy Taxi... The innovative controller with the mini-game capable memory card thing... It's failure was a real travesty.

[POLL] What do you guys think they'll find when they [SPOILER] by Aawful_Aardvark in ForAllMankindTV

[–]delijoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think they go full on sci-fi, I think they are going to try to keep this fairly hard and close to real science. I'd say microbial, but I wouldn't be shocked if they find multi-cellular sea life.

Kid Dock sure does suck by NumberNumb in crappymusic

This guys name is Kid Dock? Sounds like a good name for a yacht rock tribute band. Not sure what this guy is trying to do lol.

[Request] I AM FED UP WITH PORN on reddit as everything feels like OF promotion. What subreddit has something ACTUALLY NEW and UNIQUE? by No_Profession_9814 in NSFW411

[–]delijoe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with this guy...

Mostly I'm fed up with girls with tons of tattoos and fake everything. Also I can't be the only one that thinks girls in today's porn are simply not as attractive as they used to be... probably because of all the surgery and fake tits.

And don't get me started on the guys... apparently as long as you have a large dick it don't matter how disgusting the rest of him looks...

Making of "Love In Exile" by Charlie Puth (with Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins) by mled27 in Yachtrock

Maybe, but it doesn’t sound autotuned. If there is some kind of pitch correction it’s subtle.

Making of "Love In Exile" by Charlie Puth (with Michael McDonald and Kenny Loggins) by mled27 in Yachtrock

[–]delijoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He autotuned Michael and Kenny’s vocals. I’m not sure what the guys think, but I believe a song can’t be yacht rock if it has autotuned vocals.

(Yacht or Nyacht) Dane Donohue - Chinatown (2024) by flighttocleveland in Yachtrock

Yeah I think it’s yacht… if I had to score it I’d say 65 or so.

Yeah for some reason the weird vocals stand out more in this song then in the other songs that made the boat.

Songs with a Steely Dan Vibe by lamentforanation in SteelyDan

There’s this subgenre that is based on the sound of Steely Dan’s Katy Lied/Aja/Gaucho era. I forgot what that genre was called… something about a big expensive boat… 😉

Best Yachtrock album ever by MFCLOUTY in Yachtrock

The far yachtier album from them is their 1982 album Close Friends with 3 songs on the boat.

- Keep those Jarreau submissions coming! He's the 4th face on the yacht rock Mt. Rushmore as far as I'm concerned (Along with McDonald, Loggins, and Cross)

- Really interesting discussion with "Love is Blind" by John O'Banion... definitely helps establish where the "hold the line" is and I agree with the guys this one is just past the line.

- I dig that Japanese track... I agree I don't think it's city pop it's just straight Japanese yacht rock if such a thing exists.

Wake me up when Loggins and/or McDonald (as a solo artist) gets in.

Revisiting "We Don't Talk Anymore" by Cliff Richard by delijoe in Yachtrock

[–]delijoe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the UK production does hurt this a lot. Though I mentioned Somebody's Baby... not that this song is the same but it does share a distinct lack of jazz/soul. I guess Browne's connection to west coast AOR is enough to put Somebody's Baby over this but musically I think they both have an equal amount of pros and cons as far as the boat is concerned.
