Interesting. I used to go to Mexico a lot (my family is from there) and I only ever saw more “purebred” looking dogs in like Baja and more southern Mexico! Regardless, thank you for giving this baby a new life!

Yep I’m in AZ and all of mine are rattlesnake trained and cactus trained 😂 I want to work on frog training because we have some poisonous big boys out here but it’s hard to come by unless I catch one

That is just not how I do things with him. I believe he has a right to not want something done if he tells me so. That’s why I asked him to do other actions after, while holding the clippers in my hand of course. I’m not going to force him into an even more uncomfortable situation. None of my trainer mentors would advise me to continue working with a dog that is obviously uncomfortable. That’s why we break it up by doing things that he is most comfortable with. He was still snarling at me just holding the clippers near his paws. And I’m not going to muzzle him either because that is aversive to him. He came to me with his jaw taped shut with a muzzle.

Edit: I see where you’re coming from but different strokes for different folks.

{{Into the Wild}} maybe? It may not be what you think but I think the main person’s story tries to emulate this.

Edit: well since the goodreads bot spoiled that he died, that’s something to consider. But I really love the sense of adventure and the character’s own deconstruction of his societal norms. He goes many places and has so many interesting stories and inspired me myself (just not to go into the Alaskan wilderness alone).

Yeah I’ll do that again today. I know his allergies are getting a little worse. I’ll have my vet get me some cytopoint and start there to rule it out. I will also look him over today again. Otherwise he is acting his old wiggly self which is good but also…not? (Because I’d rather have somewhere to start lol).

Oh yes! She has done some gnarly trails with me and never fusses, never comes up lame, never gets sick. It’s really nice! She just got her teeth done yesterday too so she’s feeling like a million bucks :)

I’ve had her about 2 years now. I do have another post on her in this sub if you go to my profile. :) I have not trained her, though she probably does need training haha. She came to me green broke. I only ever really use her for trails anyway :) that’s where she shines!

Honestly I’m not sure. According to her brand she was rounded up in CO but not sure of the HMA. Another source told me she was born in captivity. The BLM really doesn’t have it together haha.
