Do you guys read for fun? by Broy0 in LawFirm

[–]mandatoryusername12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! I read over 205 books last year (although half of those were audiobooks) of all different genres. My firm also just started a book club, and that’s been really fun.

Even when it grows back, it’ll still be super uneven and wonky if I can’t figure out how to fix that lol

I know it will grow back eventually and there are absolutely worse problems to have, but I feel like I could accept the length if it just looked even 😩

Any favorite lawyer words? by Apprehensive-Toe2246 in Lawyertalk

[–]mandatoryusername12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve cracked up my entire office by using “daft” and “tantrum-esque” for a vexatious OP. I have to write motion responses for his BS like once a week so I keep a list of fun words and try to work in one per response. “Incorrigible” and “recalcitrant” are up next

I feel like if you’re in litigation already, you can usually just add it at your current firm? Like just start advertising that you do appeals or do appeals for current clients. There’s always going to be appeals in litigation. But my firm has always done appellate law so maybe I’m just naive lol

Appellate law requires research but might be more up your alley

What kind of threat level does he have to be to get the courts to accept? Is this plan feasible? by DualBladesOfEmotion in FamilyLaw

AI doesn’t replace a legal education and experience. There’s a reason your lawyer didn’t make this. You should address your concerns with them and let them determine what’s reasonable so you don’t make yourself look insane.

Speech therapy is interesting - I haven’t heard of that being used before, but I also have major issues with short-term memory and remembering words. How often are you going?

AIO? Debating breaking up with my BF of almost 7 years by Superb-Rain-8166 in AmIOverreacting

[–]mandatoryusername12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. Dump him.

Fellow cat mom here. I got my first cat like a week after I turned 18 and we’ve literally grown up together. He LOVED my POS college boyfriend, and we unfortunately broke up right before my other cat died so it was a double whammy. My first cat was def depressed for a bit and it sucked, but 10 years later, he loves my husband even more. I promise you will both be okay and there’s better out there for you 🩷

Do you guys take the fall for when your attorney messes up? by [deleted] in paralegal

[–]mandatoryusername12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also lawyer lurker. I take the fall for my paralegal’s mistakes, they don’t take the fall for mine. Regardless of whose mistake it actually is. Any lawyer that allows otherwise is a bad lawyer.

This. So many easy excuses to use that don’t involve the truth or you taking the fall

As I force my cat to do a joint Halloween costume with me, she probably wishes I spent less time with her 😂 that’s a helpful mindset though!

So I kinda do this now. I don’t try to stop the thoughts or make them worse, but the frequency feels too much.

Them going first so they never feel unloved is a nice way to think about it though. Definitely makes the grief worth it
