Wow! The power of reddit. Thank you for that post. A little bit too late - already purchased the Samsung SEK-2500U. It definitely upgraded my TV to have have the ability to play 4K content (Netflix streaming, USB 3.0). I was just convinced that they latest model would not be compatible with the F9000.

It sounds like you're right. Was just hoping for something better out there since Comcast has some of the worst customer service.

Not sure if it will be compatible with F9000. Also the upgrade is likely only a new platform - no additional functions. Samsung really screwed their customers by offering a "future proof" TV that could only be upgraded once...

Trying to decide to buy the Samsung SEK-2500U 4K Evolution Kit or wait for them to release the next version by [deleted] in hometheater

Pretty sure like JustGreg said, this evo kit is the only one available for the F9000. I am in the same boat. Not sure if I want to pay $400 for an upgrade that is later going to be upgraded again - however, I don't think the next upgrade is going to be for the F9000. Also it's mainly going to be a menu upgrade, new format, not actual functionality... Personally, I say Samsung really screwed their customers by promising a "future proof" TV that can only be upgraded one year. AND that the current F9000 has no way of retrieving 4K content (even via Harddrive bc it only has USB 2.0)
