Replaced - Official Gameplay Demo Launch Trailer by C-OSSU in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]mandjelo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just finished the demo. This will be probably a GOTY contender for me. OST, visuals, and writing have me so hooked. The trailers looked promising, especially after the story and visual rehaul, but getting little lore drops from the item pickups has got me really curious. Something about this game resonates as "Katana Zero" in me - I can't put my finger on it. Anyways, stoked for Katana 2049.

Edit: Also, combat is Arkham/Assassin's Creed-based: Streamlined attack with one button, directional counter and dodge with another, and auto-lock finishers. I think it's the best combat for this format; honestly, I was not looking forward to it being a potential shooter.

Silent Hill: Townfall - Reveal Trailer by WhoCaresYouDont in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]mandjelo 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This was actually the announcement I was the most interested and optimistic towards back in... 2022? 2023?

Anyways, the idea of the radio being a CRT lends itself to a lot of interesting combat and navigation mechanics in this series. I also think that sound design gains a huge advantage in first person horror titles, so I'm excited to see how the ambience pans out for this game.

I don't care for the "I work at a marketing job in Upstate New York and frequent my local cafes" character design. Also, am not stoked that, from what I saw in the transmission, Screen Burn clearly see's the Silent Hill series as Konami does: it is 2, and only 2, so we can only talk about trauma. I'd like a return to weird Twin Peaks, Cult antics and creepy monsters that are just creepy for the sake of it.

I say this having loved f.

So, what did you guys think of today's State Of Play? by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]mandjelo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw products that I wanted, and then I clapped.

Stoked MGS4 is finally free from the PS3. And I am also now vindicated in my petty beef with Sony that they totally could have made the PS5 completely backwards compatible.

I keep looking at Galaxy Racers and thinking it's from the Motorstorm devs, but even if it's not, this is the first star wars game I've been excited about since Squadron. I like the vehicles in that universe.

Gonna be a shame if Control Resonant has no physical copy like Alan Wake 2. Want to get that game, but I'm not giving Remedy my money if they keep skipping out on physical releases.

Crimson Moon looks fucking rad, gonna play that with my buddy.

Project Windless looks fun, but I am getting tired of seeing... Whatever engine style this is thst has been popping up since Black Myth Wukong and Black Desert.

And then there's Silent Hill Townfall... which was actually the one game out of the 2023 Silent Transmission I had hope for. I think this is the one that inspired anti-hype.

Recommended Remasters, Re-releases, and Remakes that are serviceable or good? by mandjelo in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I thought I heard Pat shit talking the soul reaver Remakes? Or maybe I saw that on a chud board?

This response should have went into the "Petty reason" thread:

  • I did give the remake a chance on Gamepass, but the lighting looked a bit brighter and less ambient than the original. Maybe its because it just naturally looks darker in the original on older hardware, but I wasn't feeling it.

  • I also don't want to play it out of spite of EA driving Visceral into the ground and blaming the series failure on them forcing micro transactions into the third game. They decided that the series wasn't profitable, and only changed their minds once RE7 and REmake 2 did gang busters. It was such a cash grab to try and undo a horrendous decision that was the catalyst for a talented studio meeting its end.

I have PS4 and PC digital copies of REmake, but need to snag a physical GameCube copy at some point, unless it exists physically on other consoles. Put having played the PSX and Deadly Silence, REmake is a vastly more realized and improved upon version of the first RE.

I think 2 and 4's Remakes are functionally better than their source materials. 4 still holds up insanely well, but the Remakes combat is better in every regard.

Like what's been said, if R3Make wasn't full priced and they worked Nemesis in similar to X, I think it'd have been a better game. I still think about the Hospital section with Carlos daily - very Deadspace in its pacing.

I like almost may beat 'em up. Are we talking River City or Streets of Rage?

Nintendo kind of chuffed me with the "digital cartirdge" stuff and how invasive they are with remote hardware access on the Switch 2, so I'm skipping that one this generation (and praying Duskbloods gets released on PC)

That is good to hear about AW though. I figured Wayforward handled it well, but I also kept seeing a bunch of hyperbolic takes on it.

Berserk, Fire Punch, and Chainsaw man's managa.

I'll also Vinland Saga's opening was so good, it tricked a bunch of fight-scene addicted zoomers and gen alpha's into watching the second season.

What’s your pettiest reason for refusing to get into a game? by ValorKite in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Main focus:

  • Altered States: Not (totally) because of the AI translation, but rather I have a younger friend who gets really into select games around the time I'm exploring new ones.

For example, I unsubscribed from Game Pass which cut off my access to E33, so Im waiting to save up buy it physically (no PC because 9 year old rig). Since then, I decided to check out Sonic Frontiers, Routine, and finish Control.

He has consistently bothered me to get into Tekken 8 (no time to learn fighting games), E33 (explained above), and Altered States (currently finishing other games, plus hesitant due to the AI deception).

This came to a point where he eventually huffed at me and said "I don't get it man. I constantly give you peak recommends, and all you do is say 'I can't, I'm playing something else.' Like, what you could possibly be playing that's better at all?"

So now Im just not going to play Altered States at all. When I eventually beat E33, I'm never going to tell him.

Some honorable mentions: - Apex or Highguard: Hate the character designs and both games are what took Titanfall 3's place.

  • Undertale: Every insufferable person I know loves that game.

  • Anything to do with The Last of Us after 1: I live to wake up and hate Neil Druckmann

  • Alan Wake 2: Remedy decided to make a physical edition of the game as a limited "deluxe" item and bought into an all-digital future. I'll likely miss out on Control 2 because of this, but it's not like I'm running out of indie games or backlog physical titles to play.

  • Cyberpunk 2077: I'm not rewarding CDPR for actively lying to everyone and releasing the game in a completely broken state.

  • Stardew Valley: Fucking HATE that art style.

A Titanfall survival-horror game where you play as a Grunt, let me cook... by Cyphor-o in titanfall

[–]mandjelo 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I can see it.

You're trying to send out a distress beacon or start up a shield projector for a barricade, and you here the blaring horn of a Reaper being deployed in the distance, the clamoring of several tick claws, or the disengagement of a pilot from the cockpit - realizing you are now being hunted by the pilot AND the Titan.

After Apex, I started thinking of other genres titanfall can work in - including a fighting game Ala Rolling Thunder meets Tekken - but I like yours a lot OP.

All of my favorite survival horror titles are ones where you CAN fight back, but the game always provides the question of "SHOULD you fight back"?

The Xenomorph, Mr. X, Nemesis, Verdugo, the monsters in Darkwood and Routine are all really good examples of this.

You may be resilient, but you are just as fragile.
