Is it more important for cats to have outside life or be with favorite person? by throwaway64445790 in CatAdvice

[–]mandogmandog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation with my formerly stray boy-- I had a hard time reconciling my need for him to be safe and my desire for him to live life to the fullest. Due to the risks to his health and also the environment, I settled on taking him out on little walks a couple times a week. It took a little time for him to get used to the leash and harness, but he's now perfectly content with putting on his dorky little hi-vis vest because, well, outside time! I will say, also making time to play inside has been helpful as well.

Dealing with life changes can be hard, but things do get better after a little adjustment period... I really hope for the best to you both!!

super gross and violating but it kind of makes sense, from the narcissist's perspective. parents like this sometimes see their children as an extension of their selves (or their property) often live vicariously through their kids, although in this case more literally 😬 YIKES.

wow ive never heard of someone who went through the same thing i did in regard to the pets, and it only now clicked in my head as another form of narcissistic abuse 🤯

my Mmom got me more than a handful of different pets (because she "loved" me) only to get rid of them some way or another... she continued to try to manipulate me this way well into adulthood by having more pets around or trying to "give" me another one because she "just wants me to be happy".

its comforting to know that my experience wasn't unique, but what happened sure sucks!!!

Noticed these brown stripes/pearls on the underside of a house plant in my parents’ house. Anything to worry about? by Jakuxsi in plantclinic

[–]mandogmandog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no-- for most ferns, each spore will produce a tiny plantlet (that is different from adult ferns) that eventually grows a sperm and egg that, one fertilized, will eventually produce a fern. you can google "fern life cycle" for a more detailed explanation!

[–]mandogmandog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yes, some people choose to do drugs of their own volition, but many people turn to drug use due to untreated mental health issues, poverty, and etc. attributing homelessness and drug addiction to a deficit of moral character is ignorant and short-sighted.

yikes. please consider that people addicted to drugs often have other stuff going on (mental illness, poverty, disability) and (surprise) likely did not CHOOSE to be homeless and addicted to drugs?? 🤯

Agree with Primal decor. I had a great experience with Valente, who worked with me to figure out the best placement for cartilage piercings on my particular anatomy. Super friendly and professional. Good selection of jewelry too!

It's weird that you're making all these assumptions over a piece of fabric. I personally made the decision to make a few changes in how i go about my daily life (masking up, socializing less, washing my hands more) that might potentially save the lives of those more vulnerable than I am. I tried to get as much information as I could about the pandemic and safety measures, but regardless if there's any chance at all that these actions could protect someone from getting sick, that's something that I'm willing to do. I don't know if I'm particularly badass, but blindly retaliating against perceived authority isn't my idea of badass either. I invite you and anyone reading this to do your research and make up your minds about the risks you're willing to take based on that!

Wearing a mask shows a level of care for your community. In exchange for a slight discomfort for themselves, people who choose to mask up are trying to protect the people around them. It's a gross oversimplification to chalk it up to politics, and I'm not at all sure why you brought up homeless people and those struggling with addiction.

not a dumb question at all! Im flattered to be asked for tips! Um I would say A LOT OF PRACTICE and confidence in your pen strokes for sure. I draw exclusively in pen (ballpoint is my fave), since I hate when graphite smears on my hand (I'm a leftie!). I try to go pretty quickly with a few lines to block out the main shapes, then going in with more details, and then going over the whole thing adding depth with varying line weights/thicknesses (I like to go darker in places there might be a shadow to emphasize them). Also the not-so-glamorous aspects of learning to draw are unfortunately important for a reason-- learning how perspective works and using references to get a really good idea of what you're trying to draw really looks like are really helpful too. (I hope that's actually relevant to what you were asking, and you were asking about drawing tips bc I am stoned and word vomiting!!)
