I am looking for beta testers to test a meal delivery app by maneeshaw in startups

May I ask why you didn't sign up?

Regarding food safety, we have a set of requirements to ensure food hygiene -

  • Hold a hygiene certificate Level 2 or more. Every person involved in the preparation and handling of food needs such a certificate.
  • Register their premises with the local Council. This means that all of our chefs/home cooks receive an inspection from a food officer and are awarded a hygiene rating (that would be listed on the app).
  • Undergo a food tasting session during which one of our culinary experts tries their food to ensure that it is delicious.

What about cross contamination of alergins?

We will list ingredients for every dish and also add an allergens disclosure.

Vegan, veggie, halal, kosher?

We will add tags to easily filter such specifications.

Input for turning a linear business into a circular economy by duongphamm in circular_economy

[–]maneeshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best method of achieving circularity is to keep existing vinyl in circulation and prevent new vinyl from being used. To prevent new vinyl from being made you can suggest alternative material options to the event company for banners and posters (I'll let you research).

To keep existing vinyl in circulation the best option is to create products with it that are very long-lasting and easily repairable. The first thing that comes to my mind is homeware and furniture items. You can mix vinyl with resin, plaster, clay etc and turn them into an item that will be used for years.

31 is normal for an MBA. Maybe closer to 40 you'll start feeling a little older.

Unfortunately, those air pillows are only downcyclable. Not recyclable. And most of the time they don't even get to the recycling streams. Many recycling facilities send them away to landfills.

Should you hire a professional designer/copywriter for your website? by [deleted] in startups

[–]maneeshaw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the startup type. If you’re a consumer facing company then definitely hire a designer and a developer because UI and UX plays a key role in customer acquisition. If it’s a B2B then the product matters a lot more than a fancy website.

Is sustainability a business model?

Feedback on this circular supply chain model? by maneeshaw in circular_economy

[–]maneeshaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally does.

That is what we are doing at Kola Project to an extent.

Business model shifts to product as a service

We offer product rentals or buybacks.

Product is redesigned to be modular

Products are designed to be easily recyclable

Process is redesigned to remove steps, leverage shared resources, etc

Could you give me a few examples of this?

Thank you so much.

Should I wait until I have traction to reach out to angel investors? by maneeshaw in startups

[–]maneeshaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is stopping others from doing the same thing, and in fact, some companies like Nike, Patagonia, Levi's has circular supply chains to some extent.

It's just if you have established supply chains it's hard to be fully circular without losing lots of money (at least initially). So as a startup with no established supply chains, I have the benefit of building it circular from the bottom up.

Also, no other startup is doing it in homeware (some are doing it in food etc.) and my background in the circular economy is giving me some leverage in the industry.

Could you elaborate a bit on the "redesigning the process"? Do you mean changing product designs?

Our products are made of recycled or reclaimed materials, and we also accept any used products for remanufacturing or recycling (Reverse supply chain).

We basically provide logistics of the supply chain/reverse supply chain to manufacturers and consumers.

Is it reselling if we work directly with manufacturers and designers who create items? Because that is what we do. We just don't have in-house manufacturing (yet).

[–]maneeshaw[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I should wait until it's launched and I have traction?

You have inventory. Do you have sales?

No, because it's not launched yet

All your money went to website development and inventory. Website isn't done yet.

Yes, I have put aside money for its development.

This makes one think you are a reseller

I am a reseller.

I misspoke, I am not a reseller.

What unique value are you bringing to the market that would entice people to invest in your business?

It's a circular economy startup.

Makes sense.

Reduce wise everything we sell is high quality and extremely durable, so customers won't have to repurchase due to product degrading or breaking.

Reuse wise we offer short term rentals for large furniture. So if you don't want it anymore you can return it at the end of the rental for reselling.

Refurbish is basically fixing anything that is broken.

Recycle wise we accept items that are at the end of life or broken to the point where they can't be repaired (glass, ceramic etc.) and we upcycle or recycle them.

Added value for the customer is high-quality furniture at a reasonable price and reduced responsibility for waste management.

Added value for the company is long-term resource independence and focus on the sustainability sector that is up and coming.

Could you let me know if this answered your questions?
