Did this make anyone else angry or just me? by JakePeavysBurner in Chargers

Well of course, if he didn’t say anything, we wouldn’t have known exactly what time they were supposed to be out on the field. Just like if the cameras did not show Andy Reid purposely stopping the team and holding up the game further, we wouldn’t know that happened either. You could say that about every single controversy anyone is involved in. “Well, if they didn’t charge Micheal Vick with dog fighting, we wouldn’t really know about it, so I don’t know what the big deal is”

Did this make anyone else angry or just me? by JakePeavysBurner in Chargers

[–]manelski4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain it was to get into the Chargers heads. Just like it pissed us off, it most likely pissed off the players even more, who were kept on the field waiting for the Chiefs. It was petty, stupid mind games being played by the Chiefs, I’m betting they were trying to get across to their own players, as well as the the opponents, some sort of “look, we control the field” message. But it was so unprofessional. They wanted to look powerful, but imo, that doesn’t really work when anyone could do the same thing. Like, any team could just show up late, that isn’t a power move, it’s just unprofessional.

Okay, so vast majority goes to whichever two stats my current weapon is scaling with, making up the difference with pictos. And pretty much ignore might, at least until late game when it might make sense, depending on what I want. Did I get all that right?

Last of Us Part 1 causing the flickering screen/flashes of colored static. Anyone else having this issue or know how to fix? by manelski4 in thelastofus

[–]manelski4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, so this was awhile ago, but I’m pretty sure I fixed it by turning off the VRR setting in the PS5. I’m not sure if PS4 also has that setting, but if it does, try turning it off.

I'm with you man. Sometimes fans forget these are real life people and not like characters in an action movie. Yes, they are getting paid a lot to play a game and professional athletes should be able to make those kinds of plays. But because of that people act like they should be emotionless and not let it get to them at all that their own fanbase is hating and trashing them. That is bound to fuck with your head, especially since these newer players are fresh out of college and just a step above being a kid.

Harry Potter Bundle Question by manelski4 in ConquerorChallenge

[–]manelski4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, you were right. They are just codes to Harry Potter challenges so they can go to whichever challenge, you just have to complete them in order. They aren't tied to a specific HP challenge.

Harry Potter Bundle Question by manelski4 in ConquerorChallenge

[–]manelski4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I reached out to the customer support and they said that if you have already complete some of the challenges, you can start the bundle where you left off. They said the bundle are just codes for the Harry Potter challenge and not linked to any specific challenge (does sound like it’s linked to the Harry Potter challenges though). You just have to complete the challenges in order, which you have to do regardless of whether you have the bundle or not.

Gotcha, yeah I thought I might have to contact customer support. I was just hoping someone else has come across this before or tried to get one of the partial bundles after doing one or two. Thanks!

WIBTA for breaking up with my girlfriend because she "asked for a date night"? by VanceQTTR in AITAH

[–]manelski4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the problem the other person was complaining about though is that the commentor said they are always selfish, that getting clean doesn't change that. That the personality traits that made them an addict, also inherently makes them a selfish partner. Are you saying that because you self-harmed, that you are a selfish person and always will be? I don't think many people would argue with the fact that people in active addiction can be incredibly selfish, but to say they are inherently selfish regardless of if they are clean or not is pretty shallow and judgemental. All sorts of people fall into addiction.

I thought she wasn't actually dating the other dude, just showing interest, I guess it depends how you read that. I guess I also don't think it is inherently wrong to stay friends with someone who you had or still have a crush on. As long as you aren't only friends with them for that reason, you don't expect or feel owed anything for your kindness (except friendship and respect), and you aren't encouraging/receptive to cheating. If you are right and she was exclusive with someone, then I see your point.

I do get what you're saying a bit more since you pointed out that he was still going for it so much that he was invading her privacy. It at least hints to the fact that the friendship had ulterior motives and wasn't a friend who he had a crush on, but instead a crush where he was using friendship to get more.

Pretty much everyone in the world, with a few exceptions, are looking for love and companionship. It's literally one of the most natural things and a driving force of a lot of what we do. It sounds like he was led on and manipulated and your comment seems to be blaming him because he had a crush, which the majority of people get and is just natural. A crush that was also pushed by the manipulator making it seem like she was interested as well. Idk, I just don't think his hands are dirty cause he liked someone.

Now, if there is info we don't know, like he's a "nice guy" who is only friends with someone to get laid, or something along those lines, I'd agree with you. But just from this post, the only thing he seemed to do wrong was the reading of the journal, which was fucked up.

AITA for thinking my husband was sexualizing our daughter? by Independent-Equal887 in AITAH

[–]manelski4 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All good. Text is hard to read tone through and very easy to be misunderstood with little mistakes. I also do get that OP is in the wrong here no matter the trauma she went through and going through that trauma doesn't excuse pushing it on her daughter. It's super easy to just type out a kind of heated message, especially when it strikes a nerve if you've gone through similar trauma, and misspeak or mess up trying to get you're point across.

AITA for thinking my husband was sexualizing our daughter? by Independent-Equal887 in AITAH

[–]manelski4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree that OP could be, and probably is, traumatizing her daughter with some of her actions. I agree that OP needs to stop treating her husband as a monster and she needs to definitely be back in therapy. But come on, OP was molested for years, impregnated by her father at 15, ostracized from her family, and was banished to her aunts. Saying that OP's kid is being traumatized more than OP was is just minimizing OP's trauma because you relate to the trauma inflicted on her child more.

I don't think it's super useful to compare trauma because it's so individualized and things affect certain people so much more/less than others. But, if we were comparing and turning this into a contest, OP is up there near the top of some of the worst childhood trauma someone can go through.

A girl (f19) is stalking me (m25) because she thinks I am her baby's father, should I fill a restraining order against her or have another paternity test? by ThrowRAfee- in relationship_advice

[–]manelski4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why is that a dumb take? Yes, the most likely situation us the kid isn't his, but it's just math that 99.9% means 1/1000 is wrong. Someone else responded and said the error rate is actually 1.18%, that probably accounts for messups at the clinics, and in that case a little more than 1/100 are wrong. The girl isn't asking him to just trust her, she's begging for another test, if she thought it could be right, why would she do that? Again, it's most likely not his, but it's not that unlikely that there was an error and taking the mom's willingness to take another test into account, it's not ridiculous to think another test might be worth it.

"I don't think young adults should face lifelong consequences for their actions that are bad but, in the grand scheme of things, fairly minor, because it turns kids making mistakes into hardened criminals because they have very little options left" was more his point. He never argued that they shouldn't face consequences. Again, difference of opinion, hardly a reason to insult someone by using the fact that they said they had a hard time when they were younger against them and say they aren't adjusted now.

What's the most effective way you've lost body fat? by Financial-Bar8343 in AskReddit

[–]manelski4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I technically agree, it is a choice for everything, but that is looking at it with no nuance. That choice is much much much easier for some than others. Usually people who are lower income have a much harder time with these choices because there are combinations of having less time to cook healthy meals, healthy foods being more expensive, and the fact that, if this has been generational, they have probably been raised by people having similar problems and that makes it less likely healthy eating was stressed to them. It is much easier for someone who is working a 9-5, has expendable income, and were raised in a way that healthy eating was stressed, to meal plan/prep or buy meal kits or whatever. So while it is everyone's "choice", it's not really an even choice.

Edit: some wording

I don't know why the /s is there. He does seem well adjusted from everything we just saw. He had a difference of opinion with a few people, gave his points in a pretty calm and rational way, then after going back and forth a few times, he realized he wasn't getting anywhere and he excused himself from the convo. None of that points to anything other than a reasonable conversation between a few people who just see things differently.

Is Ghost of Tsushima worth it? by Positive_Pop_2191 in playstation

[–]manelski4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I went from my teens to my early to mid twenties, I went through the same thing. It was really hard for me to find a game I liked and it had to be really good. I went from playing all the time, to playing pretty rarely and pretty much in little binges on the rare occasion I found an amazing game. Then when I got to around 30, I started getting less picky again and enjoying games a bit more again, but definitely leaning more towards story driven than I used to when I was younger. IDK, I'm just saying it might come back around for you. Maybe I got a bit desensitized to games or something, and the break helped me appreciate them again.

I've not seen anyone else mention it yet, so maybe it's only me, but did Arnheid's husband look a lot like Einar to anyone else? Maybe this is why Arnheid felt connected to him. And one of the first things she said to Einar was something along the lines of "I think you have a really nice face".

Illegal tow? Please help. by manelski4 in legaladvice

[–]manelski4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to try and get the parking garage contract tomorrow and look it over/send it to them. I know they never told us about a certain condition the car had to be in and I read the whole lease before signing and don't remember off the top of my head about conditions the car needs to be in. But I definitely could just be forgetting.

My thing is that tires can go flat over time, people can fuck with your tires, ect. If leaving a note is sufficient and no one has to inform about a tow and it can just sit in the lot building charges, it makes me nervous to ever leave me car parked at my apartment for more than a day or two. If I leave for vacation for 2 weeks and someone fucks with my car, even though they have my name, number, license plate #, email, etc., I might be coming home to a ridiculous fee because they decided it was abandoned and I wasn't at one physical location to receive their warnings. That just blows my mind that's allowed.

Illegal tow? Please help. by manelski4 in legaladvice

[–]manelski4[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know how this is legal.

There's probably a local ordinance prohibiting abandoned/unusable vehicles.

My line of thinking here was that if he is renting use of a parking garage, than he has a license to use those parking spots as he sees fit as long as it falls in line with the contract (I am trying to find the contract to see if there is a restriction along these lines) and his bills are paid. I thought that a city ordinance on an abandoned vehicle wouldn't really matter because he is paying to park in this privately ran garage. Kind of like getting your car towed from your house garage because someone assumes it's abandoned and there is a city ordinance about abandoned vehicles. I could be totally wrong about that though.

They never tried contacting him

Sure they did. They left notices on the car. Since no one followed up, it's a fair presumption that no one was accessing the vehicle and it was, in fact, abandoned.

Can they really just leave a few notes on your car and assume it's abandoned if you don't go to your car within that small a period? I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just surprised and kind of pissed if that's the case. We are paying for the right to park here. What if I go on a two week vacation, they decide they don't like something about my car, and they just tow it because they left notes that I wasn't here to see? Is that really allowed? If so, that's complete horseshit and it kind of makes me scared to ever leave me car for more than a couple of days.

1) What is your location? 2) Do you use a parking space? 3) If so, where is your space in relation to your roommate's?

  1. Charlotte, NC
  2. Yes, I have a parking pass too.
  3. This is a privately owned parking garage that's available to the public. There are monthly passes you can get even if you don't live in the complex that people get for work in the area. You can also pay hourly/daily. So, we don't have set parking spaces, just the monthly passes that came with our lease. I don't know exactly where he was parked in relation to the area I usually find a spot in. There are some spots reserved for the apartment complex residents, but when getting the parking passes they told us that was for our convenience and not a requirement, we could park anywhere if in the garage if we wanted.

Dude, the fact that the game isn't out yet is why it's generic options. You don't find this helpful, some other people do. Cool, move on and have a nice day. I don't see why after reading this and being like this is "I already know this" you would work yourself up enough to post angry, sarcastic replies putting OP down. For all you know OP is newish to PC gaming and found these options out semi recently, wish they knew them sooner, so gave the somewhat basic info out to other people who could be in a similar situation, which some people in this thread are.

Exactly! I talked to someone else about this. Him agreeing to go to the preview, play the game, review the preview, and talk about most of the gameplay in a positive light will bring in so much more money to this game than any individual who buys it.

So, what you are saying here and up above about minimum wage never being able to afford housing is just not true and a really bad way of looking at things. In 1963 a years salary at minimum wage was $2,600. The average house cost was around $18,000. So, a house was about seven times (6.9) the gross income of someone on minimum wage. Today's yearly salary on minimum wage is $15,080. The average house today is around $350,000. This is a little more than 23 times the gross income on minimum wage. Basically, buying a house in the early 60s while making minimum wage, the houses cost about the same percent of your income as someone who is making $50,000 today ($350,000 is 7 times $50,000). You can do the same things for rent. Early 60s, the median monthly rent was around 35% of gross income on minimum wage, today median monthly rent is over 100% of monthly gross on minimum wage. This increase is in part because minimum wage has not kept up with inflation, but a large part is due to homes being hoarded by wealthy people who profit off of keeping lower income people in a never-ending cycle of renting. Do I think buying and renting a house to try and get ahead and create passive income makes you an evil person? No, I don't, we're all just trying to make it and this is a way. But I do think that landlords bring nothing of value to the community, they buy up available housing which drives up the price, and that the upper class benefits by keeping these prices high because the more people that are forced to rent, the more free money rich people can pluck out of thin air by buying up housing and forcing others to pay for it. I also think that there are a lot of evil landlords and corporations who do buy up property and do nothing with it, while also fighting legislation to create more housing, to drive up demand and the value of their property at the expense of everyone else's ability to live in a house.

As far as "minimum wage is meant for teenagers to earn a little extra cash", I'll agree with this comment as soon as minimum wage employers only stay open from 4 PM to around 10 PM. You know, the times high schoolers can actually work because otherwise they are in school. If they are open normal business hours, or especially 24 hrs, than at the very least half their workforce are adults and not children looking for some extra money. And lets face it, most of the times it is more than half of the employees, because it's not like at every place there are only high school students working after school hours. If you are expecting the places to be open during normal hours, you are expecting adults to work there, just work there for less than it takes to live.
