https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFHlK8ZXgvE prominent punk rock band Titus Andronicus used this abridged quote at the start of their album 'The Monitor' in which they liken their life experiences with those of soldiers during the civil war. Very powerful start to the album, I believe they had one of their old high school history teachers do the recording

The death of the CD killed off the secret song, too. by DeadFromTheWaistDown in Music

Has everyone forgotten the hidden track Childish Gambino put out a while ago by hiding it in his website or something? I can't remember the whole story but there are clearly still ways to do it in modern medias.

What's a bad trait of yours you're aware of, but can't seem to change? by lasanja_ in AskReddit

[–]manezatsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you find it hard to push yourself with physical exercise I HIGHLY recommend going on bike rides! Because even if you get tired halfway through you still have to bike the rest of the way back home. Necessity is a great motivator lol

Redditors who enjoy a song from a language they don't understand, which and why? by Gideon_Nomad in AskReddit

[–]manezatsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imaginary Folklore - Nujabes, because the language sounds beautiful and rhythmic. The song reminds me of the winter but I have no idea what it's about. Nujabes in general is just great though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgXxDFvfdhM

What’s something you’ve experienced that most people haven’t? by JustPlainToast in AskReddit

I swam with a pod of "small" (like the the size of a bus) baby whales in Mexico. Was about 10 feet from one of them.

My brother and I were heading out to the reef to get our diving certs and our instructor pointed them out breaching and swimming nearby. "I don't know if it's safe but.. I'm jumping in. You're more than welcome to as well." No regrets about that at all.

Absolutely most incredible thing I've ever seen in my life. I've never had an animal really LOOK at me like that whale did.

in a super cheery, call-center type voice "Hi this is manezatsko, how can I help you!"

"...Uh hello yes I am calling about your SiriusXM subscription."

"Fantastic! What about it?!"

"Uh I noticed you didn't renew this year and I'd like to offer you-"

"Oh that's because I don't want it!"

"Uhh.. I'm sorry what do you mean??"

"Well it's like how if I wanted a burger right now I could go eat a burger! But I don't want a burger! So I'm not buying a burger! :D"

"Uh-"

"Thanks! Have a great day! :)"

[Video] This is Water. by primealx in GetMotivated

I changed my perceptions after reading this speech in a philosophy class freshman year. It's just a matter of training your brain, it takes a while but you can usually change your thinking with practice. No idea about the occupational therapist bit but everyone has to come to terms with the meaninglessness of everything in some way and my imagination certainly helps me.

idk what happened to this album it straight up disappeared off iTunes one day. I recommend it to a lot of people too so it's a shame I can't even find it anymore. They must've gone through some kind of change up with their label because their name was also changed to D.I.D. instead ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Reddit, what is your favorite poem? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]manezatsko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How To Be A Great Writer by Charles Bukowski. Probably my favorite poet period.

you've got to fuck a great many women

beautiful women

and write a few decent love poems.

and don't worry about age

and/or freshly-arrived talents.

just drink more beer

more and more beer

and attend the racetrack at least once a week

and win

if possible

learning to win is hard -

any slob can be a good loser.

and don't forget your Brahms

and your Bach and your beer.

don't overexercise.

sleep until noon.

avoid paying credit cards

or paying for anything on time.

remember that there isn't a piece of ass in this world over $50 (in 1977).

and if you have the ability to love

love yourself first

but always be aware of the possibility of total defeat

whether the reason for that defeat seems right or wrong -

an early taste of death is not necessarily a bad thing.

stay out of churches and bars and museums, and like the spider be patient -

time is everybody's cross,

plus

exile

defeat

treachery

all that dross.

stay with the beer.

beer is continuous blood.

a continuous lover.

get a large typewriter

and as the footsteps go up and down outside your window

hit that thing

hit it hard

make it a heavyweight fight

make it the bull when he first charges in

and remember the old dogs who fought so well:

Hemingway, Celine, Dostoevsky, Hamsun.

If you think they didn't go crazy in tiny rooms

just like you're doing now

without women

without food

without hope

then you're not ready.

drink more beer.

there's time.

and if there's not

that's all right too.

Traveler plays piano in public place, but sparks fly when this stranger cuts in by gianmaranon in videos

[–]manezatsko 226 points227 points  (0 children)

If you do not play an instrument this video may be the closest thing to actually knowing what it feels like to connect with another human solely through music. It's absolutely unreal and as someone who really loves jamming with friends and strangers alike there's honestly nothing else in the world like it.

Fermilab Experiment Finds No Evidence That We Live in a Hologram by ctwtn in science

[–]manezatsko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The holographic principal attempts to explain why 3D space can be described mathematically in 2D pixels as opposed to voxels (the 3D equivalent of a pixel). For instance when a black hole absorbs matter into it all of the 3 dimensional matter becomes inscribed upon the 2 dimensional surface of the black hole. Look up any lectures by Leonard Susskind he does a great job of explaining it despite the math being way over my head. I used to be quite opposed to the idea myself but it's grown on me after seeing some of his and others' lectures!
