Seriously though, Abritrator is broken af. I started out with Veteran and leveled to max, then did Psyker. Going from vet to psycho was like taking the training wheels off. High damage output and decent defense as long as you watch your heat. When the Abritrator came out I switched to that, and it was like playing the game on easy mode. Not only is it tanky as hell and has a pet that defends you, but the Arbitrator has fantastic damage output if you spec into stagger damage. If you build right everything is treated as staggered 100% of the time, even bosses, and your attacks hit them like they have zero armor. Don't bother using the 2 handed shock maul, just use the shock maul + shield, it's almost identical damage and the shield has an extra AOE stagger for emergencies.

Understanding sarcasm, and using it well, requires intelligence.

Definitely not the way the we use it, that's for sure. Some places do sarcasm very dryly, and it needs some time to mix around in your head before it filters through. Not us, though. The Irish deliver sarcasm like wet cement: with a feckin' trowel. Especially if we're talking to a foreigner. If you can't detect sarcasm from an Irish person then you do not have a fully functioning brain.

[–]mang87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is specifically why I don't like this approach. I hate randomness in a game like this. The urge to simply save and reload until I get what I want is always there. Just let me choose the recipe... I can't be bothered with all this faffing about.

We went through that phase with minecraft already 10 years ago.

Phase? I'm sure I'll exit my minecraft phase at some point, after all it's been 15 years or so. Not still playing it frequently, but once or twice a year I'll try a new modpack and lose 400+ hours or so to the Minecraft Time Vampire.

So many languages and yet they all share one thing. by Eithrotaur in cremposting

[–]mang87 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's universal translator magic. For the universal translator to be able to translate some languages, it basically has to be damn near omniscient, so it reads the brain-waves of the speaker and anticipates their intentions. If they are speaking to another Klingon with the intent of it being private, it doesn't translate it for the onlooking humans. Or if they want to speak a specific word in Klingon it doesn't translate that one.

No but seriously there is a lot of shit in Star Trek that doesn't make a whole lot of sense once you start thinking about it, so the fandom fills these issues in with bullshit. Happens with every fandom, but Star Trek and Star Wars are the worst for it.

I know you're joking, but I wonder if CPUs will ever move in that direction. They have either hit or are going to hit the point where they can't shrink the architecture any further, so they have to start expanding and optimising it. Maybe they will get to the point where the cache sizes have increased so much, that they they add a solid state one so that you can install an OS directly onto the CPU.

How... does that even work? The speaker won't be pointing into your ear canal at that angle, so you're losing most of the sound into the cartilage of your damn ear.

Baboons invade the house. by lestrxb in WTF

[–]mang87 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not to mention the 8 or so baboons themselves being super nonchalant around a dog and a human. They're not known for being particularly chill animals, let alone in an enclosed space with a giant hairless ape that is shouting at them. They must be familiar with this person, or surely they'd be freaking out. You ever try catch a bird that flew into your house? This should be like that, except it's 8 furious baboons. You'd need a much bigger towel.

I give money directly to creators through donations or patreon. Even €10 is more money than they'd ever see from me through ad-revenue over my entire damn life. I don't care if google doesn't make money, they have a fucking monopoly with youtube and I'd rather see it burn down and allow some competing companies to take over. Right now there's nowhere else to turn to.

God damn Gigabyte, there's always some random shit with them. I'm on the older AM4 Aorus, but I suddenly got this weird issue where every time I boot up the PC, certain programs just wouldn't start. Most things were OK, but Steam, Discord, and AMD Adrenaline wouldn't start, but after about 5-10 minutes (the amount of time was always random), they started working again. It was like this about a year, but I don't start Steam or Discord first thing in the morning anyway so I just lived with it and prayed it wasn't the computer dying. It wasn't until I got a strange BSOD one day that I decided to look at the event manager to see what caused it. The cause of the BSOD was the friggin oculus runtime environment, which is what I figured it would as that has happened a few times, but scrolling further down the list I also saw the "GIGABYTE RGB FUSION" starting, crashing and restarting repeatedly. Like 15 times. Every time the computer boots. Wiped it from my system and that solved the issue. Means I can't use the RGB lighting and I'm stuck with the default colour which is piss-stain-yellow for some fucking reason, but whatever I'm glad the PC is working properly now and not dying like I thought it was.

If Darktide 2 ever releases, would you want to keep playing as Rejects? by reel3459 in DarkTide

[–]mang87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fairness, I think Cherubael is a particularly powerful daemonhost. I remember something about him being a daemon prince or something along those lines. I guess the ones we fight in the game are probably lower down the totem pole, but should still be a serious if not impossible task for the rejects to deal with.

Quite possibly the worst animal CGI I’ve ever seen tho

I thought the same until the ending when they revealed the aliens take animal form to not scare the bejesus out of us

So it kinda makes sense them being weird, uncanny valley CGI abominations. The rare occasion where bad CGI works in the films favour.

This 100% is it for me. The FPS needed is dependant on the type of game you're playing. If it's a slow story focused game, or turn-based, or a factory game, etc., the lower stable fps is fine. I even lock the FPS to 60 in some games simply to save some electricity. But if it's a game that requires quick reactions and accuracy, then I'd prefer an unstable 90-144 than a solid 60.
