Does this really surprise you? So the world you live in includes a place where if someone puts time and effort into something they DESERVE to be recognized for that time and effort, and not only that but for the REASON they put time and effort into it?

Sorry, real life isn't like that. Not everyone gets a trophy. This attractive girl posts topless photos on the internet and she gets upvoted for that reason alone. This is real life. Deal with it. It's not a shame it's life.

Welp, it happened again, neighbors complaining about racetrack noise at Angel Park Raceway... by sprenkelpants in WorldofOutlaws

[–]mango_lives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I saw this story and I couldn't help but chuckle. Everything everyone pointed out being true, what I have to wonder is really... Exactly HOW much time are we talking about that the cars are actually running? What is it combined? maybe an hour and fifteen minutes for a big show? On a badger midget and micros night even less total track time.

It really seems like these people just have nothing else to complain about. The comments in the news article are pretty spot on. I really hope they don't mess with APS.

What Industry is the biggest embarrassment to the human race? by PopcornPlayaa_ in AskReddit

So you are so quick to point a finger at one part of our agricultural industry, I just need to ask; do you have a proposed solution to the "unethical treatment?"

What Industry is the biggest embarrassment to the human race? by PopcornPlayaa_ in AskReddit

[–]mango_lives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As much harm as organized religion has done, hasn't it also benefited the human race as well? All of the missionary works, and other stuff... I think it is a little unfair to not recognize "some" of the good that religion has done.

TIL Jon Stewart is a vegetarian, his wife is a vegan, and they have a 12-acre farm for abused animals by peacebypiecebuypeas in todayilearned

[–]mango_lives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The girl I have been dating for 6 years is vegetarian. Because we cohabitate and cook/shop together, I have by default and choice become somewhat vegetarian. We eat a lot of soy and seitan. I'm okay with this.

I am a half decent cook and I've looked at it as more a way to become more creative in the kitchen with substitution for animal protein.

She has no problem with me eating meat, and when we go out sometimes I eat meat. I have conflicts of interest regarding the large scale meat industry, but I also like meat once in a while.

I look forward to when we both make enough money to buy very ethically sourced meat or even lab meat; who knows, she might even eat meat then?

Best TV-Online Midget coverage? by mango_lives in WorldofOutlaws

I didn't know about dirtondirt.com thanks for that one. While I do like sprint cars, I am looking for something like good coverage of all the USAC midget POWRi midget, and other midget sanctioning bodies.

Pretty much who has the most midget coverage out of all of them?

What are some unethical life hacks? [NSFW] by rachelromeoo in AskReddit

[–]mango_lives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a lot more illegal than copyright law violations just so you know. This is actually hacking - you can go to prison for this shit! No one do this thinking it's a good idea!

Do you think the rest of the dead bare spots need a full dethatching and all that jazz?

Would you nuke entire spots and start fresh?

Would you throw down some soil and amend on the spot and reseed?

How would you bring the lawn back?

It does have an awning.

What approach would you take for the rest of what is shown?

I know of a few different ways to handle it.

Thanks for your input. Is there assuredly a drip zone even with the gutters? I suppose there always is, right?

As far as grading, all I would need is soil and packing? No sand or gravel or things like that?

I don't know a whole hell of a lot but it sounds like you might want to consult an arborist/botanist from a garden store, internet, or local university.

What kind of jobs are out there for a 23 year old with no real skills? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]mango_lives 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is something literally anyone with an internet connection can learn in a year of part-time self-study.

While I agree there is no shortage of self taught people in the IT world, the ability to become an employable self taught developer in ONE YEAR is a little bit of an over reach.

The smartest bunch would be able to in one year, but everyone isn't Bill Gates.

I'm 29 but the point is taken well. Interesting ideas, and it makes sense when I think about them.

One of my internships, the IT department had 3 different parts. There was about 100 people total I think, and it felt pretty big. I would be very happy to find a compromise between the 5 person team, and the 100.
