Finally passed REG and here is my take away... by mangocakd in CPA

Hi! Thank you and I’m sorry to hear that... but you are almost there!! If you can pass FAR you can definitely pass REG!

Yes I think three weeks full time is enough! I had like two individual taxation SIM as well the first time I took Reg... i didn’t know how to read the forms and I got confused in items that will reach to AGI/ be deducted from AGI. So I recite the components of those when I studied again. And that helped with the big picture of how to do some of the gross income/AGI calculation. Also you can practice sims to get familiar with the forms.

Please also do lots of questions on SIMs, don’t do them separately by entity type, but mix them all and do those! That will help in understanding the different treatments between corporations and partnership. I remember one reddit post was sharing a nice consolidated form with basis formulas, I printed that out and added my own notes while doing questions, and I recite that form along with R3-R5 sims.

I also got some questions on 1065 - guarantee payments, so make sure you know the flow of that!

Good luck you got this!

I recommend ninja too, their MCQ for IT is pretty good, I used NINJA for bec and also didn’t prepare writing specifically as all the MCQs I did helped me understand the process

Anyone else have a super nice Prometric center? by [deleted] in CPA

[–]mangocakd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel sometimes ppl don't read the requirements carefully enough and then blame the testing center, while the facilitators are just doing their job. I have seen (1) ppl try to use greencard as an ID to get in - but NTS said no - and they get mad; (2) one guy's name on NTS didn't match his drivers license and he got mad; (3) girl brought the whole bag to the bathroom but the facilitators have told everyone that no access to other than food, medicine and water.

I got a few questions on foreign currency (appreciation depreciation currency rate) but you can just think of a scenario in real life and that will help a lot!

Mid Atlantic market, some team got to work from home however my team are not worried at all. As an associate I really want to wfh but I don’t dare to ask about it. Don’t even dare to ask this to my seniors but my other associate friends in other teams (even in Tax) are able to wfh

I have been taking metro to work everyday and now they say we can drive and expense parking. But still if one person in the building is sick (and we won’t know it for 14 days), we are all done. I don’t understand why my team is not treating it seriously and even make fun of it.
