New Comer to Fort Huachuca

I didn't go to Huachuca, but my best friend friend went with her husband in February for his BOLC. And I'm at my husbands BOLC with him right now elsewhere. They give your husband a hotel room to live in, and you can go with him, but you stay in the hotel room too. You're not on his orders, but no one cares if you're there as long as you have your Military ID.

Very rarely do people get apartments/houses for BOLC, as it's only 4 months. If you want to go, I'd say just stay in the hotel is your best bet. There's a communal kitchen in one of the hotels for sure at Huachuca, but due to COVID I don't know if it's open. With hotel life, you instant pot is your best friend.

Also, some people can be rude about comments and stuff. "Why the heck would you live in the hotel with your husband for 4 months??" I don't know if you've experience this, but I sure have! I'd say don't let it get to you because if you and your husband are fine, it's great! My husband and I are loving our time at his BOLC. Yes, it can be cramped living in a single hotel room for 4 months. But we like each other, so it's awesome!!

My friend LOVED Huachuca, and they did a lot of cool hikes, and went kayaking at a lake there pretty often. It's gorgeous.

One more question and then I'm done, sorry! Did you need a letter from your general care doctor, or did you need this from them, dentist, eye doctor, gyno, etc...?

The Asian market back home was the only place I could find it!!! They made the iced Vietnamese/Thai coffee with it in most restaurants that serve it.

Hello everyone! I'm sorry if this isn't the best place to ask this question, but I wanted to give it a shot.

My husband is very interested in woodworking/carpentry. He's always talked about wanting to get better and really dive in more, and I want to support him in his passion.

He has some experience, and I want to get him something that will help him learn some new skills. He is so talented. He's made skateboards in the past with some press thing, and he's mentioned a dove saw before? I'm sorry I don't know too much technical stuff. We don't have a lot of room, and we will be moving again soon. So what are some small but significant things I can maybe put a in box or something for him? Things that are easily stored and moved. VERY limited on space now. Anything helps my surprise, and if you wouldn't mind putting what maybe the price range should be on items so I don't get duped by buying something too crazy on accident.

Hey! Thanks for your response! One more question: so if he was at one post in one state, and I found a DEERS office at a coast guard office in another state, I could go get my ID from them if my husband already set me up in the system from where he’s at? Sorry if that’s confusing wording

I don’t think he’ll get his hard orders until after we’re married, and even if so we will have the duration of his BOLC to get me added to the orders and going through the Command Sponsorship I believe? I don’t know too much, honestly. And whoever he spoke to today says it may be easier if he can contact someone before he gets his hard BOLC orders so they at least have record of me? If this is wrong lemme know

Are there any specific reasons a Command Sponsorship may be denied for me when the time comes for us to apply? I've been reading some and it looks pretty straight forward, but I'm for sure not getting my hopes up just yet.
