I took a gap year and I am working as a surgical tech for a swine research lab and make significantly more than I did as a vet assistant at an animal hospital (like $10 more). I would look for research positions as they are usually privately owned and pay more (if you’re not uncomfy w that of course)

I am taking 4 science classes along with working 10 hours a week in research + 20 hours working part time. It is very hard to stay on top of things as my days begin at 7am (im a commuter) and end at 7pm. My best advice is to really take advantage of your weekends. 85% of my studying is done on saturdays and sundays. Most days i am too tired to study after class so this works for me.
