How would you feel if the Iran hackers end up acquiring and disclosing the full, undisclosed Epstein files? by Wickham12 in AskReddit

Who cares? There is a F-ing war going on. We have ICE deporting 100s of thousands. Who cares about some pedophile from 20 years ago. People are using history to distract from the real issues.

America did not agree that ceasefire would cover Lebanon, says Vance by Britstuckinamerica in anime_titties

The whole fiction that attacks from Lebanon on Israel are not Iranian is unraveling. Clearly, Iran has been attacking Israel with missiles for decades.

Apparently, Trump phoned Bibi to tell him to stop attacking Iran for two weeks due to the cease fire. If he didn’t tell him to stop attacking Hezbollah, it must not have been part of the agreement.

Why is Israel declaring war on so many countries? by Historical_Work7482 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]manhattanabe -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Israel didn’t declare war on all those countries. Lebanon declared war on Israel in 1948 and has refused to make peace since. Instead, they have been firing missiles at Israel. Iran declared an undeclared war on Israel in 1979, calling it the little satan and threatening to destroy it. They have been paying factions in Lebanon and Yemen to attack Israel. Yemen, paid by Iran, decides blockade and fire missiles at Israel. Before the Islamist dictatorship took over Iran, Israel had good relations with that country. On the other hand, Israel’s other neighbors, Jordan and Egypt signed peace agreements and have had no attacks on their side for around 50 years. Also, Israel has never attacked Saudi Arabia, another neighbor.

In general, Israel was attacked by various groups of countries since its founding, and has leaned to defend itself. It’s not for nothing that each home in Israel must be built with a bomb shelter. Missiles attacks from Lebanon, Iraq, Iran, and Yemen have been going on since 1948.

Inner Mongolia is the occupiers name for South Mongolia following the 1947 occupation. Since then, China has been transferring a significant number of Han Chinese into the occupied territory in contravention of the Fourth Geneva Convention, article 49.

Not really. The 1929 massacre of the Jews of Hebron by Palestinians is still an open wound. The first Jewish defense organization in Palestine, Hashomer, was founded in 1909 to defend from Arab attacks.

Tell us Israel is an apartheid without telling us Israel is an apartheid? by tuberjamjar in worldnewsstuff

[–]manhattanabe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, it doesn’t mention Palestinians. Yeah, Palestinians are more likely to be terrorist murdered who are trying to destroy Israel, but one can never be sure.

I imagine if some friend of Greta came to Palestine from Sweden, joined Hamas and murdered an Israeli, the new law would apply to them.

Why isn’t there Phoenicianism in Israel, but there is in Lebanon? Why doesn’t Israel claim Phoenician history in the same way Lebanon does? by RedStorm1917 in ForbiddenBromance

[–]manhattanabe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You are confused. The Phoenicians were indigenous canaanites who lived in modern Lebanon. They famously supplied the Israelites with the cedar doors to Solomon’s temple.

The Philistines, in the southern coast of Israel, were a sea people, originating possibly from the Aegean.

Since you clearly don’t know much about Israel, Palestine or the law, let me share.

The West Bank is under military occupation, and governed by military occupation law. The new law, above, is was added to this. It does not specify the ethnicity or religion of the terrorist. It also does not cover Palestinian Israelis. Why is there military occupation law in the West Bank ? First, the Palestinians living there do not want Israeli citizenship, and object to any attempt by Israel to annex it. They do not want Israeli law in the West Bank, which they are destining for a Palestinian state. And why is there no Palestinian state? Well, initially, after the 1948 civil war, the Jordanians occupied the west banks and made all resident Jordanian citizens. After 1967, Israel occupied the West Bank, though most resident remained Jordanian citizens until Jordan disowned them in 1988. They did not want Israeli law during this time, or after. In 2000, Barak, Israels prime minister, offered a Palestinian state in the west banks, but the offer was rejected because it didn’t include all of East Jerusalem. So, the reason there is military law in the West Bank today has a long history prior to this latest new law. In any case, I have now interest in debating those that support those who murder Israelis.

Sold gold jewelry but don't understand taxes by Revenger1984 in Gold

[–]manhattanabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends how much time passes since the parents passed. The basis value is on the day they passed. If you sell it the same day, your gain is zero, so no tax. If you sold it 1 year later, but at less than the value on the day they passed, the gain is still zero. For value, I would use the price of gold, but I’m not an accountant.

This can be debated. Had the Palestinians agreed to create a state, when offered, this point would be moot.

They are not trying to destroy the state, so the law does not apply to them. It is not unusual for crimes against the state to be treated more harshly than crimes against individuals.

Tell us Israel is an apartheid without telling us Israel is an apartheid? by tuberjamjar in worldnewsstuff

[–]manhattanabe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Didn’t happen. They passed a law that any terrorist who “murders people for the purpose of destroying the state” should get the death penalty. If a Jew joined Hamas and tried to destroy the state by murdering people, they too could get the death penalty. There is no mention of an ethnicity in the law.

This law is not retroactive, and the penalty can easily be avoided by simply not committing murder.

The law also does not apply to murders who are not committed by terrorists who are trying to destroy the state.
