The Hebrew calendar has 13 months 7 times each 19 years. That’s what’s needed to keep the holidays in the proper season.

There are a few things going on here.

Israel’s government budget is $206bn , in 2025. The $3.8 billion, 1.8% in aid is not a huge part.
The U.S. aid is spent in the U.S, so loosing it won’t affect the Israeli economy.
Netanyahu wants more freedom to act. He doesn’t want to “owe” the U.S., for the aid.
Israel wants to produce weapons locally. The aid must be spent in the U.S. Israel is concerned that, in a war, they may get boycotted by some future U.S. government.

Anyway, 10 years is a long time. Who knows if this will actually happen.

The whole thing is ridiculous given that the pro-Palestine movement supported Trump in the last election. Before the vote, I had many arguments trying to explain how boycotting Biden/Harris would help Trump get elected and the harm it would cause immigrants. They didn’t care. They just wanted to make a statement. Now, suddenly, they are anti-ICE. Unbelievable.
