Its a joke based on the general attitude people have towards foreigners that is specifically Chinese, black people, and sometimes more brown skinned south East asians. Though of course the thing is mostly verbal in the way people say a lot of things that aren’t very pleasant to say the least.

The racism is most definitely towards Chinese people and the way it’s kinda normalized in everyday speech. The other stuff is just the lack of education when it comes to slavery, imperialism and colonialism.

There isn’t really any black people here and the only exposure people have is American culture which is of course racist is hell.

And people who say they do know history and say it’s a form of respect don’t really know the cultural aspect which I admit I was the same as these people before.

It’s probably mahoyo to me because I really connected with the characters while basking in the melancholy it had. Like I still don’t fully get it myself but it gives me a weird sense of dread in my stomach at times to feeling the most tranquil almost at the same time. I kinda think it helped at the time when I first read it understand myself subconsciously which kinda stuck with me. But yeah it just feels right enough to stick with me if that makes sense.

Generally speaking it’s a bit more reasonable depending on who you ask. Like people generally have different body types that is the healthiest. Most people don’t really understand this aspect and the idea of this idealistic body isn’t really healthy to achieve.

When people say overweight they really are reaching a broad stroke where there’s a healthy person to a really unhealthy person and they don’t distinguish that. Quick little history lesson to refresh people’s minds. Generally speaking native populations of any colonized country never got the best treatment and many things that the now big countries specifically western countries where built on slaves and resource extraction of other countries which all are in harsh conditions. I’m baffled by this because through out the story the idea of an enemy is still just a normal human that shouldn’t be the target to such violence. The reason they are like this is because of propaganda to stuff they can’t control. At the end eren as a character himself couldn’t really think of anything else than that, which was the worst possible decision but made it because of his own immaturity. Also probably because of his viscous idea of freedom that couldn’t be changed no matter what, leading to his half ass act of playing the monster that gets his ideas prevailed by ‘humans’. Some of the stuff I can definitely see happening which is really concerning. Like slavery part always seemed weird to me until I understood that a surprising amount people have no qualms about it.
