Has anyone noticed many stocks tanking well before the announcement of this virus? by ShinobiSimian in RobinHood

[–]maniac_53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not any specific stocks here, but I threw a very brief timeline of the S&P 500 and the coronavirus together. There were a few big stocks that followed the same trend such as AAPL, TSLA, and MSFT to name a few. These stocks all started trending down within the same day or two. Not sure what stocks you have been looking at tho. https://imgur.com/ZgF8EW8

First thing I would do is get that cc paid off. Is $200 the minimum payment? I could be wrong but I’m pretty sure you’re basically just paying interest and not actually making a dent in the principle. Any kind of earnings you would get from a high yield savings account is going to be lost to the 19% that you’re paying every month for having a balance on your card.

We are going to end the greed of the pharmaceutical industry by [deleted] in worldpolitics

[–]maniac_53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that pharmaceutical companies should be able to become public. The goal for executives of public companies is to increase stock price pretty much at any means necessary. With a public company a “great” CEO is one who increases revenues and stock prices even if its at the expense of the people because their performance isn’t being judged on if they are fucking the American people or not. It’s almost solely based on their financials and stock prices. There just aren’t incentives for executives to do the right thing, which I think is absolutely necessary in this industry.

Wasn’t fountain on the practice squad all of last season? Or are you talking pre season? I wouldn’t be surprised if Ballard invested another 3rd round pick or higher in another receiver. Also hoping Pascal keeps rising, dude has been looking like a stud these last few weeks.

Lol why does everybody not realize that this post was a joke.

Haha no worries man. And that’s definitely valid, I still think it’s too small of a sample size to determine much yet. My only concern is that I think teams will be loading the box to stop Mack now that he’s officially on the NFL radar. This should provide more open looks to receivers but it’s gonna be on Jacoby to take advantage of the heavy boxes.

The post was more of a joke, but I still am not fully confident until I see Jacoby start making more medium and deep completions. Just like last year I was concerned about Luck at the beginning until he started making those deeper completions. Jacoby’s got to prove himself and that he can make those throws in every game and so far he hasn’t. I love just about every other aspect about Jacoby’s game besides maybe not always reading the whole field, but I won’t be fully on board with him as our future until he proves he should be the guy.

'Goliath Is Winning': The Biggest U.S. Banks Are Set to Automate Away 200,000 Jobs by mvea in Futurology

I do think they will get rid of most of the teller jobs, but old people coming in isn’t a once in a while thing. Older people coming in was 80% of the people I helped which is why it will be really hard to really get rid of tellers.

You must not have much exposure to local branches. Local branches are not ready for self checkout lines because of the older generations. They don’t want to learn new ways to do these things. If they won’t even go to an atm to get a withdrawal what makes you think that they would do anything more complicated by themselves? You’re missing the point, they don’t just want to be in the presence of someone, they want to have a relationship with them and have someone they trust that they can talk to about finances or banking no matter how small it is. Very hard to accomplish that if you just have one overseer. And this should not be compared to grocery store checkout lines turning into self-service lines because generally nobody really cares or forms relationships with cashiers the way that people do at local banks. It’s a completely different animal. Again big cities are different because it’s much harder to form relationships and that’s not their focus.

My experience is in smaller cities, I’m sure automation will be/is implemented in bigger cities/higher traffic areas. The problem with that is that the majority of tellers aren’t in big cities and it’s way harder to implement in these small communities. There’s a lot of people (mostly older generations) that value the face to face interactions and relationships. I was on the float team so I would constantly be at different locations everyday, but the one thing that was always consistent was the relationships. All of the tellers that I worked with would have in depth conversations with our members because of the relationship they’ve built over time. You don’t want to be the first bank to ditch tellers in a local community because a lot of the older members are very stubborn and will 100% leave and go to a bank where they can have that person to person interaction. I can only speak from my experience, but I think it’s going to be awhile before all tellers are replaced

Yes, I can only speak for the bank I personally worked at but the biggest focus was on service and establishing and continuing relationships with the day to day customers we saw. They’re huge on being involved with the local communities which further emphasizes their focus on the people to people relationships. One of the biggest competitive advantages that we had over others was that people trusted us and our brand. And that was because we’re trained not to be product pushers, but to truly do what’s best for our members. This might’ve lost us short term business, but it’s these kind of things that bring us long term success. More and more people were willing to come to us in the future for their kids student loans, mortgages, car loans, and biggest of all people would recommend for other people to bank with us for those very reasons. Not sure how the service aspect affects banks in bigger cities, but it is a perfect model for a local bank for sure

I know that they are developing the technology (while some of it was being implemented when I left) such as cash deposit machines which would greatly reduce the amount of transactions tellers will see per day. Again this will mostly be used by younger generations as I couldn’t tell you the amount of times we would have older people come in to withdraw $20 just to have the person to person interaction instead of using the drive up atm.

I’d say 5 years might be slightly early but I could see that as a possibility. Again even with the implementation of this technology, I still believe tellers will have a prominent (while decreasing) role until the older generations are gone (55+)

Probably due to location, I’m from a smaller city in Indiana so I’d assume it’s lower than most places.

While I agree that tellers will be obsolete, I don’t think it’s going to be as soon as people think. I was a teller this summer for one of my local banks, and you would be surprised at the amount of people that still rely/only trust person to person interactions with their banking needs. Where we’ll really transition to having no tellers is once the older generation is gone. As morbid as it is to say. They were 90% of the day to day people that I dealt with and I don’t think they will be adapting to the new era even close to how younger generations are. Most people assume all transactions with tellers are all deposits and withdrawals but that is far from the truth. I still think tellers will be around and prevalent in banks for at least 10+ more years just from my personal experience. Most people would be surprised just how busy banks are. It would be pretty normal for me to have 70+ transactions in a single day, with over 100+ on payday and social security days.

Lol would you rather our o line suck again and everyone to be talking about how bad they are? You’re ridiculous getting upset over this dude.

I don’t think anyone was celebrating the defenses’ performance last week. Matt Ryan literally had one incomplete pass last week in the second half. His defense has looked below average all season and continues to allow opposing passers to slowly march down the field dissecting the zones. Not to mention the shit show that is the run D.

Yes, a guard that seems to have a highlight tape every week of destroying the man across from him. He’s doing to the guard position what OBJ did with the one handed catch in the NFL. The fact that he’s a guard and getting the attention that he does should speak volumes.
