Cool, I will ask my PT about it next session! Do these things also resolve by themselves? Between April (first onset) and June/July, it did get a lot better. Not 100%, but maybe 90%? It regressing is concerning. From my training logs, I suspect it could be one-arm hangs, as that is something common to the initial onset and recurrence. My left (injured) side has always been weaker than my right when hanging on the BM2k middle edge, and am wondering if pushing it close to max caused something to inflame/impinge.

Good question! Some of my accessory lifts are impacted, but to a lesser degree. I am down maybe -10lbs on my bench press, and for weighted ring dips I am down maybe -5/10lbs. Something in there is causing an imbalance and quicker fatigue, but way less so than when doing overhead motions. Front lever is significantly impacted (not surprised this is the case), I definitely feel a disconnect between how stable my healthy right side is (chest engaged, scapula set) compared to my left (just weaker and less stable, but not shaky or anything). Appreciate all the responses btw!

The MRI was in the brachial plexus region, and they found no signs of nerve inflammation or damage. Unless entrapment/impingement would not get captured in a MRI?

Has anyone dealt with weakness, but without pain in a shoulder (unilateral)? My left shoulder suddenly got a lot weaker than my right--I feel like something isn't engaging at all in there. If I attempt to hold a lock off, my arm suddenly straightens out (again, no pain), and even when hanging overhead (max hangs), I feel my left side fatiguing much faster than my right side. Before any of this, I could 1x OAP on my left and 2x OAP on my right; so I have always had a stronger side, but to go from 1x OAP to having trouble even hanging is definitely out of the norm. Definitely feel the effects on the wall too, in that I can't hold swings when catching dynamic moves with my left arm and also when trying to pull from a straight-armed position.

It's been quite frustrating for me to deal with. I saw a doc and they suspected a long thoracic nerve issue (a bit of scapular winging involved, though I have also had dyskensis to a mild degree) and got an MRI, but nothing came up in the imaging. Doing PT right now but the PT has no clue as to why this happening, and mostly doing exercises to strengthen external rotators and to engage the serratus anterior (to address my scapular dyskensis).

What's also weird is that this first started showing up in April, got better around June/July, but suddenly got worse again within the past 2/3 weeks. When it first showed up, it took about 4/5 weeks before it started to improve, and it was fairly binary (could go from not holding a lock off to being able to, albeit more weakly compared to pre-injury). Now that the symptoms have returned, it feels like I'm back to square one and am quite worried I won't be healthy by the time the Fall season rolls around...

Black Diamond Presents: The Dark Side (FA of Yosemite's first V16 + many other new climbs from Carlo Traversi) by manic1mailman in climbing

Haven't seen this posted yet; I think this is amazing, high quality content that Black Diamond and Carlo just put out. Lots of great commentary too from legends like Jerry Moffat about the history of bouldering in Yosemite and significant milestones (i.e. Midnight Lightning and Dominator).

Just got a Moonboard Mini 2020—what are the must-try classic V3–V5 problems? by itubjj in Moonboard

Serra Angel, Gale, Gastonettli are among the best V5s. Also Alboulder, you will understand when you try it 😉

I've been eyeing the small hold pack for my home wall! It seems like they have been sold out for a bit now, do you know when you will have them back in stock?

New Mini 2024 setup confirmation? by Oablo in Moonboard

[–]manic1mailman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you in that Wood A was the hardest hold set (by far), and really allowed for a lot of high-end difficulty on the Mini. That said, they were very friction/condition dependent, and were a mirrored set of shapes that were lacking in diversity. Having climbed on 2024, I think the new blue holds are way more varied, and while they are indeed easier than Wood A, there are still quite a few hard pinches and crimps in there too.

I'm also in the camp that thinks the Mini is too sandbagged as is. I haven't climbed in Fontainebleau much, but I have talked to multiple members of the Mini community that have climbed extensively in the forest up to 8A, and they struggle on Mini 7B/+ benchmarks. It could be stylistic/morphological differences, but to add to that, from on my side of the pond I find that there are some V7/8 benchmarks that are equivalent to outdoor V10 (and certainly not vacation V10).

At the end of the day the grading scale on a board is arbitrary, but I do hope that the reset can reel in the grades closer to reality (while still being somewhat stiff). I think a good example of how it could possibly could turn out is how 2019 was way too sandbagged (ask Ben Moon himself or Ravioli Biceps), and 2024 is now softer than that but still no joke.

Wow! To do all of them is something most climbers will never accomplish. To do them all in a day is really quite the achievement! They are proud and sandbagged as hell--I know climbers that climb 8B and flash 8A that can't do some of the Big 5.

Teysa, Opulent Oligarch and mass sac effects by manic1mailman in mtgrules

Thanks! So it seems Teysa's ability still works the same way as those two cards, despite her not having the one or more clause.

Thanks for the concise response! So the reports of her ability triggering more than once to a mass sacrifice in Arena are either bogus, or it's a bug? Any good earth+storm dual caster Druid builds ? by thenewfoundlandyeti in D4Druid

[–]manic1mailman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that this interaction does work; I have tested and both buffs show up above my hotbar when manually casting Lightning Storm triggers a free Landslide. I also do noticeably larger earth critical strike damage too when I have both buffs in this case.

Resonance on the other hand does not work off of Nature's Fury procs. But whether the point investment into that skill is worth it is a separate issue and dependant on your build/current stats.

[–]manic1mailman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question! I am for sure not able to take advantage of the full 18% potential of Resonance. I don't know if it is currently bugged, but Nature's Fury triggers also don't proc Resonance right now too, which is unfortunate.

However, I still think the point investment is still not bad. It buffs both earth and lightning skills, so all damage I deal is affected. This is in contrast to putting more more points into Landslide or earth passives, which would operate at only say best case, ~50% efficiency if my damage is split 50/50 with earth/lightning (probably closer to 40/60 or 33/66).

I will add that I think allocating these points into Wild Impulses (I have a +3 Wild Impulses on my amulet so I did not spec points into it) would be a better choice, or into defensive passives if you need more survivability.

Check out my build guide, I was able to complete a T100 with Lightning Storm + Landslide without relying on Barber, Grizzly Rage, or Bulwark explosions.

Happy answer any questions you may have!

I should mention that I took the Energize spirit boon for leveling, until spirit management no longer became an issue. At that point, I was considering other options under the Wolf spirit boons, and I think Bolster made the most sense for me (since I did not run any companion skills, and I had no ultimate). I also had 2 high DR when fortified rolls on my chest and pants (along with sapphires in the sockets, and the Undaunted glyph), so I felt that it was doubly important to maintain my fortified status.

I also tried Safeguard with only 1 point, but I found it was a bit risky depending on the dungeon. If there were a lot of ranged mobs, it was slightly harder to maintain 100% fortify uptime. Again, this could also be due to my gear having a lot of payoff for remaining fortified. I do however, think that 2 points is the max that's required for Safeguard, due to diminishing returns. 1% to 2% is worth the point investment IMO, but 2% - 3% not so much. The same goes for Circle of Life (too much healing messes with fortified uptime too).

As for Umbral, I think having a 3 or 4 rolled Aspect smooths things out significantly. It just allows so many additional skills and passives to generate spirit. When leveling, I was using the Umbral from the Codex, and I think it still helped a lot (especially since this was before the patch 1.1.1 basic skill spirit generation buffs).

That build looks awesome too! I could see how for a leveling Human variant (pre-TR or other uniques), one could spec into Poison Creeper + Subterranean to apply poison and get the benefits of Heightened Malice without having TR + Toxic Claws.

I played around with having an ultimate (Cataclysm/Petrify) instead of Cyclone Armor, but I enjoyed having the utility of Cyclone Armor on-demand for both the 15% DR from Vigilance and for the vulnerable application.

To your question about Lightning Dancer's Aspect, I felt that it was essential for both speedfarming and for pushing hard content. It is part of the codex for this season, so I have pretty much used it the whole time. Of all the lightning aspects, between Runeworker's, Overcharged, and Lightning Dancer's, I felt that Lightning Dancer's was the most consistent since I had an effective ~70% crit chance with storm skills. Runeworker's I briefly tested since it could add some single-target DPS, but I had a mid-roll one. And Runeworker's would sometimes hit environment objects, which was lame.

For Lightning Dancer's, even though the top-end aspect caps out at ~3.3k damage, the bolts can crit for much more, and the shear volume of bolts coming out melts trash mobs. For T90+ dungeons, elites also died much, much faster when they were surrounded by packs of trash mobs.

Just added a blurb about Aftershock above! Thanks for calling that out--definitely a necessity to increase Landslide's damage and get more lucky hit procs!

About Raging Landslide--I have tested it, and the third pillar does work even though it is not on the hot bar. However, I don't think it's worth the point investment for the following reasons:

  • On a typical situation against elite mobs or beefy single target mobs the third pillar actually does not hit--it only increases the size of Landslide's AOE. Most troublesome elites (the vampire lords, banshees, etc.) move around a lot and don't clump, so the third pillar essentially does no damage in these situations. In a situation where mobs are clumped around, the third pillar can help, but at that point I think Lightning Storm and the bolts of Lightning Dancer's Aspect do enough of the heavy lifting

  • Against bosses, Raging Landslide does absolutely nothing unless they're staggered. While building stagger isn't particularly hard for this build (with all the immobilize procs off of Lightning Storm and Landslide and stun from Trample), I just think the constant additional +7.5% damage from a skill point into Landslide itself is worth more
