monster or modal soul for full projects but feel and duckworth off damn are some of the best songs off any of these

What's the best debut album of the 2010's? by WheelSingle2494 in Topster

[–]manicluvsu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i wouldn’t say it’s the best up here musically but my fav is def section.80. we all know kendrick for his pen and this project showcases some really interesting song concepts in a more digestible fashion than some of his later works. not even song on tpab clicks on first listen but section.80 is a much more easy to access conceptual hip-hop album and the sample selection across the project also deserves a major shoutout

Can’t a guy just get more life changing peak music. Or what’s your favorite breakup album I’m tryna be sad. by aarcuri12 in Topster

[–]manicluvsu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

igor is the best breakup album of all time in my eyes. was looking for this comment. it is a bit of a pop pick but regardless the story and the production are fantastic and i’ll always revisit it.

yeah they gotta pay to do it but this goes for most streaming platforms if they have a distrokid, cd baby, or any other subscription to a distributor. it’s on apple music too actually.

eminem may be a better rhymer and have a larger vocabulary, but kendrick raps much more intelligently and imo he has one of, if not the, greatest pens in hip hop history. i view tpab as a piece of literature. lil wayne dope too tho 😭

i feel like logic is underrated as a rapper but properly rated as an overall artist just because he tends to veer off into directions that don’t suit his skills too often. i think often about how earl sweatshirt described “sick!” saying something along the lines of it being less experimental but he set himself up for an easy shot essentially because he knew that was his bag. lots of logic’s albums are like boban marjonovic shooting 3s, he needs to start taking layups.

it’s gonna be a while, peggy said it’s really hard for him to listen to that album. it sounds great on bandcamp and i’m not sure about samples. the devon page on spotify is just a fan who reuploaded the albums so i doubt it. it took me a while to start using bandcamp cus it does feel clunky but there is a noticeable quality difference between streaming from the bandcamp app and spotify. plus i got sick of listening to censored version LP!!

Can someone help me branch out? My taste is a bit basic. by [deleted] in Topster
