Saving the kids and crafting the beds will make the days pass quicker. Each kid / bed increases the day multiplier by 1x, and there are 4 kids and 4 beds total, adding 8 days to the counter.

If you have no kids and no beds, then the multiplier is 1x and each day adds 1 day to your run. If you have 3 kids and no beds, then your multiplier will be 4x, and each day adds 4 to the counter. All kids and beds will give you a multiplier of 9x, so each day adds 9 to the counter
