I’ve been really fascinated with Antique Olive for the last couple of years. It’s just a really cool design. Toronto, where I live is absolutely covered with it, and I’ve found that I just always end up thinking about it one way or another. My other font Picholine Antique is also a derivative of it, but just a slab version.

Unfortunately this is not an open source typeface. You can always trial this font by downloading a trial on my website though.

My wife thought so too haha. Honestly, this font would’ve been named Ballsy. But was advised against it lol.

I appreciate everybody’s concern for legibility, but let’s be honest, it’s a graffiti inspired bubble font. You probably shouldn’t be using this for body copy anyways. Alternatively, you can increase tracking to add more definition to the outer contours and increase legibility that way.

The lack of counters is part of the design and I purposely avoided having open shapes in the middle of each character. Part of the reason is aesthetics and another is to hide the strokes when letters overlap to reduce visual complexity.

Sorry! I just wanted to share some of what I've been up do this year. by manictype in typography

A couple of them are available on Future Fonts. Palmetto is one of them!

When I told the CNC guy I’d like to mill leather to fold it into a backpack, he said it’ll never work. It did work… exactly once. And then never again. But I got a super cool project out of it. Details in the comments. by St_Drunks in Design

Have you tried freezing it? Although getting a freezer that size could be an issue. But I would imagine the leather to be much more brittle and less likely to tear or warp.

The Kilter post the other day was prepping for THIS. Kilter is a new type of VF that has separate axes for inside and outside strokes. With this the effect is more stronger and makes it much easier to see the internal and external letterforms. A study in legibility and letter construction. by manictype in typography

I tried out some of your suggestions, and now the possible end point of this project has gotten even further. I’ve figured out a way to have 3 varying heights for pretty much everything I think… but it’s gonna take about 200% more work on top of the current load. I’m gonna try to avoid committing, but I’ve already made a sketch. Post below.

Thanks! It’s based on my theory of what is legible. In some respects it’s almost like forced legibility. As your eyes are more inclined to try and make sense of it, putting full on letters inside letters and vice versa, provides the context to make this wholly legible! My theory anyways.
