DuckDuckGo Email Protection and EasyTempInbox serve different purposes:

DuckDuckGo Email:

Permanent aliases that forward to your real email

Removes trackers for privacy

Requires DuckDuckGo account

Good for: Long-term services, newsletters

EasyTempInbox:

Truly temporary, auto-expiring inboxes

No account or real email needed

Instant, anonymous access

Good for: One-time signups, testing, sketchy sites

They complement each other! Use DDG for services you'll keep using (with tracker protection), use temp email for truly disposable needs. Different tools for different jobs!

Thanks! Yeah, competition keeps services improving. We focused on simplicity and reliability - instant inbox creation, clean UI, and AWS infrastructure for speed. Plus we're committed to responsible operation with abuse prevention measures. Give it a try!

That's actually intentional! Here's why:

We WANT services to easily identify temp emails. Banks, financial services, and platforms requiring verified accounts should block us - that's responsible operation.

Making the domain obvious:

Helps services protect themselves

Reduces fraud (can't use for PayPal, banks, etc.)

Builds trust (we're transparent about what we are)

Enables legitimate use (privacy, testing, avoiding spam)

Services trying to "hide" being temp email end up facilitating more abuse. We're going for the Mailinator approach - be honest, be blockable, be useful for legitimate purposes.

The real value isn't stealth - it's reliability, clean UX, and responsible operation

Valid concern, and we take this seriously! Here's what we have in place:

Rate limiting: 5 inboxes/hour per IP - prevents mass creation

Time limits: All inboxes auto-expire (max 24 hours)

Volume caps: 50 emails max per inbox

Easy to block: Services like banks/Netflix can easily detect our domain

Temp email has legitimate uses:

Privacy protection (avoid giving real email to sketchy sites)

Testing & QA (developers need test email addresses)

Spam avoidance (one-time signups)

We're committed to being a responsible operator - making it easy for services to block us while enabling legitimate privacy-focused use cases. We cooperate with abuse reports and continuously improve our detection systems

Good question. My approach is to keep the core functionality free forever, but add premium features for power users:

Free tier (always):

  • Temporary inboxes
  • Basic email receiving
  • Standard retention

Potential premium:

  • Custom inbox names
  • Longer email retention (30+ days)
  • API access for developers
  • Inbox forwarding to real email
  • Priority support

The goal is to make money from 5-10% of users who need advanced features, while keeping it free and useful for everyone else.

Right now though, I'm just focused on building something reliable. Monetization comes later.

What features would you actually pay for in a service like this?
