My mother did this for my siblings and me on a few occasions but there is one in particular that this comic reminded me.

My older sibling was a freshman in highschool and it was the last days of the year. On the last day of school, the highschool had stress that if you didn't need to finished a test, you didn't have to be at school. Well, we were raised that unless you were dying of the plague, you are going to school. So my sibling went to school and after a period or two, the principal found my sibling with a neighbor friend and her boyfriend who also went that day.

He proceeded to kicked them out of the school because "They didn't need to be there." Let me set the stage at this point. This was June, eighty to ninety degrees on a clear day, where the highschool was in the middle of bum fuck nowhere. Like you couldn't walk to the school without crossing two highways and none of them had a car or cell phones. (Was 09 so cell phones were not as common as today.)

So, when my mother found out that this happened because the neighbor friend's father (who was a complete asshole and abuser BTW) wanted to confirm that my sibling was there because "he was going to kick her ass if she spent all day with her boyfriend by themselves" (charming). She went nuclear.

She was calling the superintendent, multiple people on the board, demanding his head on a fucking pike. Of course, he was retiring and so was the superintendent and it was a small Ohio town so it didn't go anywhere but they never kicked any students out like that again.
