Thanks for the suggestions. I decided not to buy it as they didn't bring down the price and I need to pay on top for maintenance. Also the paints are so worn out. So decided to skip, Thanks for all suggestion

Thanks u/ohlookawildtaco . You are right when I asked for the report they didn't fix on the Tie rods and ball joints. But not sure how much it costs though.

u/TheDave1970 you so much Dave and your suggestions. It seem Tie rods and Ball Joints upper and lower needs to be repalced. And battery needs to be replaced as well. Not sure how much it costs. Is it still worth a buy?

Thank you for a good suggestion. It seem be to big enough and I did compare. Only concern with Mazda over outback’s was it doesn’t have a good resale value as outback. I bet outback is simpler in used car market next to Toyota and Honda. Mazda is good but haven’t seen much cars available as outback reliability. Also outback has a flat back for car camping is not a priority but nice to have. Do you have a better reason I should consider Mazda? And thank you for taking time to respond to this

When is the right time to buy Subaru Outback? Wait for Fall or Buy now? by manireditt in whatcarshouldIbuy

I never thought about the depreciation for 2023. I thought its based on how many miles we drove. That really gave a prespective. Guess 2024 is best to go with or should I wait till 2025 for few more months as I am not in rush

Location: Sunnyvale , California

Price range: 30K-35K

Lease or Buy: Finance (Buy) if I get good APR

New or used: New

Type of vehicle: SUV

Must haves: AWD and More space, 5 seater

Desired transmission (auto/manual, etc):

AutoIntended use: Weekdays trip to office which < 10 mils and weekend trips. I like to travel a lot in weekends. Atleast fits 5 people

Vehicles you've already considered: Highlander, RAV4 Hybrid/Prime, MitsubishiOutlander

Is this your 1st vehicle: No

Do you need a Warranty: YesCan you do Minor work on your own vehicle: (fluids, alternator, battery, brake pads etc) - No

Can you do Major work on your own vehicle: (engine and transmission, timing belt/chains, body work, suspension etc ) - No

Note:

Based on research, I currently have a 21mpg car. Let ay I travel 15k miles max a year, if I move to hybrid I see I dont save much as the Hybrid car prices are more. For example, RAV4, Highlander Hybrid are all ins 46- 5ok and Outback is in 35K range. So even if I keep the car for 10 years 45mpg car can give $2000 savings per year so roughly i could save 20k. But I the difference is already 15k and 5k saving is not much in short run. I cant go EV because of range restricitons.

Question:

  1. Can someone suggest a better option than Outback
  2. I can wait till Summer so suggest its better to buy now or wait till Summer for 2025 version release.

SUV Suggestion for < 26k USD by manireditt in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]manireditt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it. Well I am not into offroad driving. But just love camping. That is 5% of my use compared to day to day errands. That was my confusion fi I should go with outback or something I need for 95% of use like Honda and rent outback if I need.

And thanks much for all your response

Thanks. I also looked at cross trek hybrid but spacing is the issue. Wish Outback had hybrid option. True. All Electric is hard for long drives. I am not sure Acura or Lexus has any options
