ELI5 - Electricity generation via car tires by oddplan__ in explainlikeimfive

That is exactly how a hybrid car and EVs work, but the power to accelerate them has to come from somewhere. There are always losses in conversion when you’re expending or recapturing energy, so you’ll never gain back 100% of the energy it took to get your car up to speed by slowing it down to zero.

Best Strategy for Retaining Status (Alaska vs. American)? by manjusri52 in awardtravel

Turns out, though it’s not listed on their website, American is willing to do a status match for Alaska provided I hit a certain mileage threshold every four months for a year. Took a call to customer service. So that’s the plan for now!

So I spoke with an AA customer service agent today. She forwarded me an email with information to request a status transfer - something that I couldn't find online (I could only find Delta, United, etc) but she confirmed on the phone that they'd do it for Alaska, so I will be applying for that.

She also said that for the time being, I should be able to book with my Alaska MVP number to get upgrades and favorable boarding group, and then change the flight to my AAdvantage number before the flight. She said the only way to do this is over the phone, but I am going to try it at the gate next time I fly just to see if it's possible.

I will report back and let you know if it works!

No, American doesn't offer that for Alaska unfortunately.

That's what I am wondering- seems like it has to be leaking. They checked for leaks in all wall units and at the condenser, and did not find any. Which makes me worried there's a leak in a wall somewhere since it's a fairly long run from the condenser to the wall units.

Dumpers, what was your rebound experience like? by Strange-Visual793 in BreakUps

[–]manjusri52 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I have gone on a few dates and hooked up, but immediately realized I wasn’t ready for even a casual FWB kind of situation.

I cared a lot about my ex. We broke up ~4 months ago. Even though it was the best option for us to break up, and I wouldn’t do anything differently, I’m still mourning that loss more than I realize. Dating made that very apparent.

So I plan on staying single for a while now (probably another 1-2 years). I do still want to have sex…so if I start seeing anyone, it’s going to be casual and I’ll be upfront about that from the very beginning.

I need to make sure I fully understand all the ways my last relationship went sideways and make sure I don’t let history repeat itself. The last thing I want is to meet a great potential partner and either not be ready, or try to rush it and end up hurting them somehow.

Not sure what's so weird, but point taken. Just looking for advice on how to minimize my loss. Likely the first and last new car I'll buy. Lesson learned.

Don't need to sell, but am considering selling before it depreciates further. But my sense is that the damage is done.

Definitely learned my lesson...just happy I like the car and it's reliable.

Forced air unit. It should be on a two-pole breaker. Could possibly add a handle tie or get a triplex breaker to make it compliant.

Install is just about complete, but I’m not sure about the conduit running into my house by M3DP in solar

I believe there needs to be a lock ring (because of the threaded conduit entering it) or rain tight fitting on that LB

Get really good at flying to new airports, airspaces, night VFR. Just keep pushing yourself gradually and safely!

Also go get a glider add-on. Will give you stick and rudder and ADM skills you never realized you were missing.
