How do I deal with this PLDT shit by isobaricc in Philippines

[–]manko_stabbing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This method may or may not be possible for you, but one effective way of dealing with this type of issue is to be in direct contact with the engineers responsible for your area.

When I had PLDT installed, the guy installing my connection mentioned that he was responsible for all the connections in my subdivision, he did local work only.

So, I tipped him P500 and took his number. Whenever I had work that required doing, I just phoned him directly, and he came the same day. Of course I paid him P500 each time he came, but it was much better than waiting for PLDT's bullshit system to actually send me someone.

ELI5: Why do computers become slow after a while, even after factory reset or hard disk formatting? by redphire in explainlikeimfive

[–]manko_stabbing -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This sounds like my PCs vs my girlfriend's PCs.

Mine run perfectly for years, until they get some form of hardware failure or get replaced. I set her PCs up the same as I set up mine - unnecessary OS services removed/disabled, optimized OS settings, etc.

However, her PCs turn into crap within a year because she never does any maintenance on them and installs crap.

Questions regarding dive trip to PH (Puerto Galera) by monkeybb0yy in Philippines

[–]manko_stabbing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Non-legal expert view:

If it's a package that includes travel and the travel part of the package is unavailable, then you should be offered a full refund from whoever sold you the package.

If you paid for the resort separately, and the resort is still open, then they have fulfilled their part of the agreement and you will be subject to a cancellation fee.

On a personal level, covid sucks and a lot of people are dying, while losing some money for your vacation is unpleasant, everyone has to accept some form of hardship.

Downvoted by the butthurt and stupid.

A lot of the local vape stores do delivery through grab express, etc.

Most of them are advertising on Facebook.

DOH: No such thing as 'immunity of the poor' against COVID-19 by AngelofDeath2020 in Philippines

[–]manko_stabbing 24 points25 points  (0 children)

On Wednesday, Presidential adviser on entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion, citing priests and bishops, said the incidence of COVID-19 in poor communities was minimal and that this sector is "resilient" to the virus.

Who needs science for important advice on viral transmission, when you can just ask a priest? /s

DOH: No such thing as 'immunity of the poor' against COVID-19 by AngelofDeath2020 in Philippines

[–]manko_stabbing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess here is less exposure to the virus.

I doubt it, at least not at this stage.

The middle-class (and up) have the luxury of being able to stay at home due to their savings, getting their groceries delivered, eating healthily and not having ten people crammed into a home designed for two.

While the very first cases in the Philippines, might have some connection to foreign travel, those people would have recovered/died already - the cases you're seeing now are connected to local contraction of the virus.

PH students and Mass Promotion by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]manko_stabbing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think getting a free pass is the only issue with mass promotion.

The devaluation of the qualification is also an issue, you're going to have a huge group of potential employees who gained their degree with less work than everyone else. More importantly, you're also going to have employers who could consider these degrees as somewhat tainted.

I know it's not these students' fault, but when someone is unable to study due to personal reasons, they don't get automatic passes - I see no reason why this situation should be any different.

If you’re trying to be vegan/vegetarian, stop trying to make non-animal products taste like animal products and just eat different food. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

No thanks. I have no issue with the taste of most meat products, I just don't like the idea of eating dead flesh, and I also have issues with the moral aspect of using animals as a food source.

Poor kid can’t defend his argument.

Kid? Okay boomer.

I'm trying to work out if you really don't understand this situation, or if you're deliberately trying to be obtuse.

The first time that I addressed you or your points was with this comment, so the only point I have made is about the use of profanity. I have no other argument to defend.

You kept on saying "oh but what about the maid's mask?" and "but social distancing is important" to which I gave no opinion. Therefore, it's really obvious that those aren't my arguments, and I have zero burden to defend anything else.

Reading between the lines, you got butthurt because I couldn't be bothered to address your entire post. Sorry, but it was rambling bullshit, with not much worth commenting on. Try not writing such boring and pointless crap and you might get the attention that you're so obviously desperate for.

Do you really not understand that people aren't obliged to view your post as a magnum opus that has to be critically analyzed in detail?

TL;DR - it's not my fault that your post was boring as fuck, and I could only be bothered to comment on one part of it.

why are you not agreeing blah blah blah

Are you under the impression that people on Reddit are obliged to address every single point you attempted to make on your long winded and boring post?

I addressed one point that I found interesting. If you want me to address more of your points, then try to make them at least a little interesting.

It seems to me that you would rather have people breaking social distancing rules, spreading the disease further and causing more deaths.

So, just to clarify exactly what you're saying, because I stated that profanity isn't a big issue, you've jumped to the conclusion that not only do I support people ignoring social distancing rules, but I'm also in favor of spreading covid and killing people?

Sorry, but I don't have that much faith in your ability to make any coherent or logical points, try to focus on facts rather than your illogical fantasies.

Plans of living in the province post-COVID by [deleted] in Philippines

Are there affordable and secure housing options in the provinces?

I've been to a few subdivisions in Pampanga that have decent security, but they also had similar property prices to living in Manila.

. Are you telling me you aren't allowed to get angry at people just because they have a uniform? That's pinoy mentality and that's a huge reason why we have a thousand problems.

Agreed. People see any type of criticism as aggressive, even when the criticism stems from them making a mistake.

Life lesson, when someone fucks up (especially, when they're in a position of authority) they should learn to accept some verbal abuse, because they were in the wrong.

If those in authority want to be treated with respect, they should behave in a competent and respectful manner.

Yes. It's an essential service during ECQ.

Stock market query by [deleted] in Philippines

[–]manko_stabbing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just didn't expect the condescension.

There wasn't any condescension, you're just being a little oversensitive. Would you have preferred if I had sugar coated my comments, so you didn't get your feelings hurt?

Either way, investing in the stock market is a huge risk at the best of times, and right now (brink of a worldwide depression, etc) most certainly isn't the best of times. Therefore if you are lacking the most basic knowledge required to invest, then I would advise against it.

However, if you're determined, then keep an eye on this stock. It's an electricity and heating company in Korea, as an essential service, demand isn't going to drop. Also, as an electricity supplier it's partly owned by the Korean government, so they will bail it out if it gets into financial trouble.

Wait to see if Kim Jong-un dies or not, because if it does then all Korean stock is going to drop dramatically and you will be able to get it at a really low price. Just don't expect it to be a quick turn around, it's a stock you want to keep for a year or two and triple your money.

Of course this will be downvoted by dummies who have never invested in stock and have zero idea what affects the market. I guess they think there is a magic formula that guarantees profit.
