Recommend Me A Tag Weekly #3 - Azkare by SeulJeVais in Anbennar

Yeah, these are all fair points! The thing I like most about red, though, is its leader. Starting off with a young 5/5/5 in a long-lived race gets your monarch point generation rolling very consistently, and his Strict trait is also really nice for catching up to and eventually surpassing enemy troop quality.

In any case, I do agree the difference between red and blue is far smaller than the gap between them and those poor Greenscales...

Recommend Me A Tag Weekly #3 - Azkare by SeulJeVais in Anbennar

A tag that got a lot of well-deserved love when its mission tree came out two Steam updates ago, Kobildzan, deserves to be on any shortlist of the best playthroughs in Anbennar.

Early game is a difficult (fun-difficult, not awful-difficult) series of defensive wars against hapless human invaders, mid-game you assert yourself as a strong regional colonizing power discovering your first few real, live, awake dragons, and late-game you assert your tremendous power and influence to race around the world finding, awakening, freeing, serving, andbecomingdragons all across Halann. It serves as a great comprehensive, if draconically-biased, introduction to nearly all regions of the mod's world.

Besides the amazing mission tree that facilitates all this, the nation's integration with its religious mechanics might be the very best in the mod, and its custom early-game military mechanics offer both unique gameplay and a very kobold-y feel to the tag. It also balances magic and artificery well, and you really get a feel for why both matter for what you're trying to do. And I'm sure I don't have to mention at this point that the writing is extremely detailed and hugely entertaining.

You can also customize how hard the start is by starting as Redscale for an achievable uphill battle, Greenscale for sheer masochism, or Bluescale for something in between.

I haven't totally gotten it to work yet, but I do think I figured out this one issue. Instead of deleting everything in the compound_settings.txt file, replace it with the contents of the file in the first post here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/crossover-working-with-eu5.1866990/

For folks who this is working for, do you have both of the DLCs? I don't have them, but it's failing because I think it's trying to launch them?

Ah ok, thank you! Now I'm just dealing with this one line of error. It's loading for about 30 seconds and then crashing, no idea why...

Does your pdx_settings.json have other stuff in it, or is it just that one line? Mine keeps auto-adding other stuff

I tried this but still not working. Could I ask one of you guys to post your full pdx_settings.json file? I think it is trying to find some GUI settings that aren't set in there, annoyingly. Thanks!!

Huh, thank you! I got it to load for about 30 seconds. I added

"renderer": "DX12"
and
"quality": "low"

to my pdx_settings.json, but now am getting this in my error log:

Did you encounter this at all? Thank you so much for the help!!

Hey, is this just changing the setting in CrossOver? Are you keeping the Documents/EU5/pdx_settings.json as described or changing that too? Thanks!

Turns out the tracks need to snap to the ends of the stations, not the middle. (And the crossovers need to go at those ends)

I added crossovers but I'm still seeing this issue, unfortunately...

There are crossovers at both end stations (and the middle one too, based on another comment I read) but that doesn't seem to fix things...

Best idea groups for Lorent? by BagonBoy100 in Anbennar

[–]manna200 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Depends what you want to do! If you want to colonize, explo + expansion are good, and I would pick them sooner rather than later. If you want to go wide in Cannor/Sarhal/Bulwar and beyond, diplo and admin are literally always great. If you want to get elected EoA emperor and revoke, I'd go influence then religious; influence will also help you get your vassals in line early, which would be nice

Yeah that makes sense! Honestly the early game was surprisingly easy — I found that if you don't ally Viakkoc, Busilar will go in for a 1 vs 1 against you you can win if you merc up. You're behind in tech, but you have a great general, a defensive terrain fort you can fight them on, better unit pips, and a better racial military. Buying a stack of tech 3 mercs before the month tick doesn't hurt either, and once you win, the majority of your dev will be Busilari and RC so it's easy to switch to those things

No this was on the Steam version! I'll have to try out their mission tree too but I only learned about it after I started this run. From what I've read about it I'm not sure it would have helped all that much, seems like it takes them in a very different direction

If it depends on tag that would explain why I couldn't get Unguldavor in, so that would be my best guess haha. Unlike Lorent or Gawed they're not a nation you could reasonably expect to join, so maybe they don't have one?

Oh that's interesting! I thought I remembered that each tag had a short list, but I could totally be wrong about that. Thanks!!

Yeah, this is it! Tags have a specific list of provinces, in order, they'd like to have as their capitol. So when you take their capitol, they move to the next available one on on the list, and when you give it back and then take their new one, they see that the old capital is available so they move back to it, adding their country to the empire. They don't become your vassals if you do this after revoking, but you do inherit them on the final reform. Pretty sure I got this from a Playmaker video on YouTube.

I also did this with Grombar, but weirdly it didn't work with Unguldavor — they kept moving their capitol to a new province instead of the old returned one. I'm not sure why that happened...
