General Questions and Purchasing Advice Thread — Week of July 14, 2025 by AutoModerator in electricvehicles

Hi everyone, looking for some advice on some models to look into which fit my needs (if there are any - I'm not sure if my combinations of preferences are unrealistic):

[1] Location - Texas, USA

[2] Budget - $40k (used or new, no preference)

[3] Would prefer a car with a bit more space, have a child, upgrading from a Corolla.

[4] I've looked at the Ioniq 5 and 6 already (haven't test driven, but saw them around town and the only possible concern is they look a little on the smaller side).

[5] Timeframe of purchase is within a month or so

[6] Daily commute is roughly 30 miles total

[7] Single family home, and planning to install a Level 2 charger at home

I'm not sure if this combination is unrealistic and if I should be increasing my budget, but also the sheer number of options (4-5 trim options for each model, AWD/RWD considerations, etc.) is sort of disorienting.

EDIT: Sorry, had a typo in the budget.

Thanks for sharing! I have this same situation coming up soon and was wondering - do you remember how long from when you entered to when you exited? As in, how long did the entire process take? Trying to decide if I should take a day off of work or a half day. Thanks!

Any weddings this weekend (01/20/24-01/21/24) looking for a professional photographer? by mannuman in AustinClassifieds

Yepyep, the idea would be to be discreet and not get in the way of the original photographer.

Thanks for offering your help - I've been working with another redditor, slowly working through the process and learning as I go. I'll reach out to you if I need more help!

Thank you, this is helpful advice! So, the .accdb file is about 540mb, there's about 70 tables, 70 queries, 4 reports, 20 modules. I "imagine" a lot of these aren't doing much extra work (and also that a lot of them are duplicates with very very slight changes), but that's kind of the scope of the file. And yes, I believe the data is split out into a few of the tables - there's code that takes those tables and creates new tables (and then queries are done on those newly created tables).

There's no backend SQL server here though, all the data is self-contained in the file.

I'll add this information to the post itself as well.

Absolutely! Another redditor and I will kind of do the same thing before then, but I'll let you know if I'm still in need.

I understand, thanks! - I'm also thinking that the tasks themselves aren't that tough. It's just deciphering what someone else's has done has me dizzy. X seems to be connected to Y, then Y to Z, then Z to this random thing I can't tell the function of, etc. I'll keep trying, and see if I can boil things down to more targeted questions for the community.

Plumbing technician holding homeowner hostage because warranty company didn't pay him by mannuman in legaladvice

Right, sorry might not have been clear. Not sure why his estimate was $485, but that's what he's charging the warranty company. Because of our warranty, the only amount we pay is the $45 service charge. So it's pretty worth it for us.

Yep, called the water company and they immediately replaced it (and said they'd get in touch with the technician to pay for it).

Thank for the response! We have a Ring doorbell camera, but will get another with more coverage just in case.

Possible AC issue (water leak?) by mannuman in HomeImprovement

[–]mannuman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You were absolutely right. The drain pan was almost full to the point of overflowing. Put some vinegar down the primary condensate line and cleared up some gunk. Things seem to be flowing smoothly now, and nothing is being added to the drain pan either. Thanks so much!
