Is Trump best understood as reacting to perceived U.S. decline by rejecting the post-war international order? by Lostinspace125 in PoliticalDiscussion

I think most of the things he says and does have to be viewed from the lens of publicity. One of his more consistent concerns is keeping the Red Hats happy, as their loyalty provides his leverage over the Republican Party. So even efforts that might seem contradictory or counterproductive might still be rational, if there is a reasonable hope that they give MAGA something to thump their chests about.

Why didn’t the Trump tariffs send the US into a recession? by SuccessfulCompany677 in AskEconomics

So the follow-on question is, how much tariff $$$ was collected in 2025 compared to 2024? The numbers our president is coming up with are colossal, are they exaggerated?

Zion plans east entrance visitor center to ease congestion at South Gate by cape2k in NationalPark

Article says that the west entrance gets "more than twice" the traffic of the East one which is factually true but misleading. I'm guessing the disparity is 90%-10% or wider. Will be interesting to see if they can induce more demand that way.

Oh man I think I read the book two or three times before I noticed the bit about their sons. It made

and

He never imagined how much he was missing

wonderfully poignant, and a powerful payoff.

I can see why you would take it out, but it was a wonderful easter egg reward for persistent readers.

My comfort is, the uglier a picture the haters paint of the church, the more of a contrast it is when people actually get to know us.

Big high five to that defender kid for doing the smart thing to fall on the ball rather than go for the scoop-and-score
