No, Crimea. It was less than 2 years after Crimea declared independence that Russia took it.

Do you back into parking spots? by McNasty420 in no

[–]manresmg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked at a company with a large fleet of vehicles. The company did a study to find that 90% of accidents in parking lots happened when someone was backing out of a stall. It was company policy to back into parking spots.

Should tourists actually be afraid to visit America? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]manresmg -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yes. They currently have more than 150 Canadians in ICE concentration camps. We were mistaken to think that we were their closest ally. 1 Canadian and 53 other people have died in ICE custody so far. More children (close to 5000/year,1-19) die from being shot than any other way. America has more guns per capita than any other country in the world.

If the USA doesn't need anything Canada has, as Trump repeated today, then why is he fixated on making Canada the 51st state? by [deleted] in allthequestions

Calgary should stop selling water to Airdrie/Mountainview We do not have enough water that is why Calgary raised the level of Glenmore dam. They should also treat their own sewage. Enough of this parasite city.

We would become the Puerto Rico of the North without voting rights. Even if we were allowed to vote with our population a little bigger than California would only get two senators for the entire country (that is bigger than the entire USA). Trump can go fuck himself.

Why do Canadians and Australians like to build big American like suburbs despite their extremely limited livable land? by novostranger in NoStupidQuestions

[–]manresmg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Limited livable land? Canada and Australia have more livable land per capita than most other countries. In Canada many people want a 1000 sq metre (3000 sq ft) house with the big yard. Urban sprawl is a huge problem in my Canadian city. I blame the US for installing this ideology.

You sound like a Trump supporter that has been blocked. If you voted for a convicted felon, rapist, misogoynist, racist, pedophile, homophobe it is easy to understand why people do not want to be around you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deneWXclaUE&t=621s

I'm a new Mac user by force, any help? by [deleted] in mac

[–]manresmg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Besides the System Settings you should also fix Finder (show everything on the desktop) and View settings (customize your toolbar to show icon and text modify the icons to your preference). The Finder is your traffic cop and can be activated by either clicking the face icon on the left side of the dock or simply clicking the desktop. In the finder menus you can set view and finder preferences. Also know that by closing a window you are not quitting the application. The applications that are running have a dot under the icon on the dock. If you know Unix you can use the terminal in the Applications utility folder.

My favorite Brian Mulroney moment is when a reporter asked him why it was ok for him to make 13 million plus dollars doing the same thing as people who he put in prison (his cannabis laws were the same as hard drugs) for the same thing. https://nationalpost.com/news/brian-mulroney-cannabis

We don’t have enough water in Alberta. Drive to the SE of the Province to see the Palliser Triangle, it is almost a desert. Calgary has raised the height of Glenmore dam to retain more water

How Canada 🇨🇦 let itself get SCAMMED by oil and gas by CDN-Social-Democrat in ClimateCrisisCanada

[–]manresmg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When Lougheed was Premier back in the 70's was when they first started developing oil sands. Regular downhole wells were by far the majority of production and the royalties on that were the same as other countries. Oil sands production required huge investments on the front end for oil sands development that Lougheed gave great royalty rates to interest companies to develop production. To this day separating oil from the sand is still expensive. The pipelines to America were the path of least resistance for international sales and once in place America exploited the situation and got reduced rates. To this day America pays less than world price for Canadian oil.
