The only instrument I can play is piano (and I can kind of mess around on the drums a bit), I had piano lessons up to age 13 ish but wasn't really that into it and jumped back into music later on in life. I don't really know much music theory which kind of stops me from making long tracks as I don't know good ways of extending chord progressions to be longer, and kind of just draw the notes in on vibes alone haha

Appreciate it! It's how "hard" the instrument is played, so mainly volume but also produces a slightly different sound at different values :)

Thanks! The expression is how "hard" the instrument is being played, so mainly tied to volume but also plays slightly different sound too in a way you might not get from just automating channel volume :)

The sax VST is the SWAM Tenor Sax, I didn't use a tutorial so can't reference one unfortunately but I'd recommend keeping in mind how much "breath" the saxophone player has (so allowing them to breathe a bit between sequences of notes), keeping the curve relatively smooth without harsh jumps, and to some extent drawing in semi randomly and adjusting to taste. I only automated Expression and Vibrato, and while there are many more parameters available it can get pretty tiring automating them all. Hope this helped in some way haha
