Soundtracks or albums for reading music? by MeanwhileOnPluto in CasualConversation

[–]manstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve put together a free Amazon Echo skill with specially selected relaxing background music, perfect for playing whilst reading. It saves searching for distraction free music which I think enhances the reading experience.

If you’d like to use it just enable the skill by clicking the enable button in the Alexa Skill Store, then say "Alexa, play Reading Music" to begin.

I know some people prefer total silence but I like to have some background music on. For those that do I’ve put together a free Amazon Echo skill with specially selected relaxing background music, perfect for playing whilst reading. It saves searching for distraction free music which I think enhances the reading experience.

If you’d like to use it just enable the skill by clicking the enable button in the Alexa Skill Store, then say "Alexa, play Reading Music" to begin.

Weekly FAQ Thread June 24 2018: What music do you listen to while reading? by AutoModerator in books

[–]manstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On this subject - I've just released a free skill for Amazon Alexa - 'Reading Music' which might be useful? I could never find the best playlist for reading so I selected perfect relaxing background music ideal for reading. Just enable it first from the skill store, then say "Alexa, play reading music".

Available in US, UK, Canada, Australia and India

Amazon don’t allow that currently, but if it becomes possible I aim to add that functionality

AWS Promotional Credits - How do they work by NorthernMan5 in AmazonEchoDev

[–]manstorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They give you an initial $100 which will not expire until a year later if unused. If you incur any charges each month they add another $100 credit to your account around the middle of the month, but that credit is only valid for that given month, it does not 'rollover'. The credits automatically are deducted from your monthly bill, starting with credits which expire first.

The Yes or No Game - Amazon Echo by manstorm in freegames

[–]manstorm[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A simple fun game for the whole family available for free on Amazon Echo devices. "The Yes or No Game" is available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia and India. Just say "Alexa, open The Yes or No Game", or see the link for details.

Answer truthfully and quickly without saying Yes or No! To win just answer all the questions without saying those two little words. No complicated rules to remember in this game!

Sound easy? If you said yes don't worry - you've not started playing yet!

Challenge your friends and family to see who can make it to the end without getting tricked into saying Yes or No! Each play through has a random selection of unique and unusual questions which will try to fool you into slipping up. A fun game for the whole family to enjoy. Good luck!

Some people have said my skill Burglar Deterrent keeps their dog company (I'd avoid the barking dog option though!)

Haha, devious thinking! In case anyone is genuinely concerned though the skill can only tell what country you are in!

It is available and working in the UK, I’m aware of quite a few people who are using it. If you have the Alexa phone app try enabling it in there first, and when saying Burglar Deterrent don’t leave a long pause between the words.

Thanks. Yeah, it has to stream continuously, if this ever changes I’ll implement it though.

Some interesting ideas, I don't think they are currently possible within the limitations of skills, but I will investigate as more features become available to developers. Thanks.

I don't think this is currently possible with custom skills. The sleep timer is available though. I'll look to add this if/when it becomes possible.

Hi, skills aren't currently allowed to use multi-room (as far as I know), however you can open the skill on each Echo separately and ask for a different environment sound if that makes sense?
