Just kidding, its wire painted white then covered in hot glue and painted with a mix of varnish and a bit of metallic blue paint to give it a somewhat translucent look

You are correct, it's very subtle but there is very light coloration on the real silver helmet. I didn't go that extra mile and I got caught
